Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Parts One and Two (Harry Potter, #8)

Probably 3.5-I think it seemed more fan-fictiony than I wished it was. Most of the characters ended up exactly where you would expect them to be based on the previous books (and especially the epilogue). It just seemed like we weren't given any more insight into the characters past the original Harry Potter series. That said, of course I liked the story. I mean, it's a revitalized taste of Harry Potter! I was never a fan of Albus Severus even from the epilogue but he was a perfectly fine main character. That said, again in that fan-fictiony kind of way, not everything seemed fully genuine.
As a caveat to all this, I really suck at reading plays. Though I know a play is meant to be performed and therefore usually less effective as text but for me especially I feel I do not interpret it all correctly. I fail to connect the emotions that would be well-done by the actors but seem over-the-top in plain text. I did enjoy the stage directions, which were much more syntactically descriptive and complex than other plays (thanks to the novelist style of JK Rowling, I'm sure).
