Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (MPHPC for short) is a really special book. I’ve already read it three or four times, and every time I enjoy it just as much as the first time. There’s something beautiful about the way a tangible set of photos from the real world we live in was magical enough to create such a compelling and thrilling story.

Two main things, in my opinion, makes MPHPC superior to the other books about people with special powers. Firstly, the take on time travel in this story is one I don’t think I’ve ever come across before: rather than having a time machine, or a special necklace with the ability to travel through time, a group of children was placed in a time-loop for their own protection. They lived the exact same day over and over again while the rest of the world moved on. Because of this, some really unpredictable, stunning plot twists happened, and only intensified the difficulty of putting this book down.
