5 stars (I loved it)

So I apparently gave this a 3 star rating the first time I read it. Yet I go around and tell people that it's my favorite book....

There are just so many quotes from this book that make me feel like home. "oh the cleverness of me" "to die would be an awfully big adventure" "boy, why are you crying?" and so many more. I have "think happy thoughts" tattooed on my arm and two stars (second star to the right) tattooed on my shoulder.

This is definitely a product of its time. A lot of racism especially towards Indigenous People. Sexism too. But I just love the writing and the fantasy of the story (part of it is also that I grew up watching and loving Mary Martin's version of the play, which is very similar to the book).

They do say a$$ a bit much for a kids' book (mostly said by Tinkerbell) and there is a mention of a fairy orgy. These things make me hesitant to tell people, especially my students, that Peter Pan is my favorite book but I can't help it! It feels like home.
