Back when I was gaming with a weekly group, our angst about game picking got big enough that a member coded a website where we could anonymously vote for board games and see the results revealed the day we gamed. And, even with that, we tried to game the system. So I fully understand what Wright and Daum are trying to do here.

There are a lot of methods for picking games here, including some strange RPG/game picking hybrid that I didn't pretend to understand. However, I did like both "The +/- Dice Roll" and "Tom's Perfect System" (which gives you more chances to pick a game next time if your game didn't get picked this time). Overall, this is a book that probably works great for a regular group that can track information from game to game and week to week. For more casual groups, this is probably overkill. (And the book doesn't address the biggest problem I see: what to do when 7-8 people are present and you know two games will be played, but aren't sure what the player counts for each game are going to be.) But, if you're intent on picking board games, this is a good choice.
