Charles de Lint is one of my favourite authors, his stories always capture my imagination. I'm gradually re-reading all the Newford novels in order. It's so long since I first read this book that it was as if I was visiting it for the first time. Charles is one of the few male author's who can authentically write from a female perspective. The reason this one has 4 stars and not 5 is because I feel some of his other books are 5 star(plus) but this one felt at times a bit over-long and the main character, Izzy, wasn't always likeable. But then who is 100% likeable in real life.
If you've not read Charles de Lint do so, he pioneered the genre that is urban fantasy and has a superb in-depth knowledge of folk lore.
