Markedly better than the previous book. I actually enjoyed the police procedural parts this time around, but the resolution was a little too neatly wrapped up for my taste. I still believe Sam's investigative skills are totally overrated, but with her not waging war with the Secret Service and balking about her 2nd Lady duties, she was more tolerable this time around....and a lot funnier!!!
As usual the best part of this series is all of the personal relationships, and they were front and center. Sam & Nick couldn't keep their hands off each other (I was actually surprised by all of the sexy times), Scotty is growing up, Avery & Shelby are finally back on track, and Freddy & Elin are gearing up for their wedding. There is a new couple and a new detective in Sam's squad adding even more wonderful possibilities that I'm looking forward to see play out.

As for the audiobook... Eva Kaminsky does a great job with giving each character a clear and distinctive voice. However, she gives Sam a somewhat breathy, haughty voice that to me is at odds to the tough DC cop she's supposed to be.
