It had been a very long time since I picked up a book in this series, and in a way, it was like finding an old friend all over again, but I had changed a bit and the friend hadn't. Don't get me wrong, the story was engaging and very entertaining, but it also felt very formulaic.

Sam and Nick hadn't changed or evolved from previous books, so it fell to the supporting cast to carry any emotional growth. That came in the form of Gonzo, but I really felt like he deserved more "screen time" in the book to make the changes more meaningful. I liked that we got "status updates" about a lot of the other couples in the series, so that everything felt up to date.

It was a good book in the series, but not the best one.
