I couldn't finish this book. I was excited to read about what geologists have found in the Grand Canyon and other locations. However, I missed the introduction where the author clearly states that he doesn't believe Noah's flood explains all of Earth's history. Every chapter discredits Noah's flood or any flood as an explanation.

I enjoyed reading about the different theories on how mountains were formed by waters below or plate tectonics or by higher sea floors that eroded when sea waters decreased. I enjoyed reading about whether fossils were formed by fast sedimentation or slow deposits. But I just couldn't keep reading when the author agreed with slow sedimentation making fossils. It makes no sense to me. How could bones stay in place or not decay long enough to be covered for posterity? How could the Colorado River moving fast explain the marks from rushing waters on the Grand Canyon 's walls? Even if you don't believe in Noah's flood, why not suggest a different flood? Or the erosion of a natural dam like in Montana or the chalk cliffs of England?

As the author said in the introduction, this book shows you how geologists read the world's history in rocks, and rocks don't lie. I just don't agree that the rocks are purporting the conclusions that the author thinks they are.
