This was an impulse buy that paid off. My first Herrera book but definitely not my last. The dialogue felt genuine and had me laughing out loud in parts. I loved Julia and her family dynamics and the way that she warily but humorously approached her attraction to Rocco. Rocco's dedication to his sister and niece was wonderfully realistic as well, not overblown drama that will make me roll my eyes. The chemistry between them was instant but the actual sexy times do not come until far into the story which didn't bother me at all. The build up was nice and I couldn't have asked for more. I hope that the secondary characters in the Gotham Exiles Club get their own books at some point because they were all interesting and I'd love to get more of them. The story is simple and straight forward and gave me what I didn't know I needed.
