really liked it

I have never quite read a novel like this one before, clearly, there are two clear threads running through it.

The first thread is a broad-ranging classic science fiction story, with some interesting worlds and characters, it was well enough put together to hold my attention throughout.

The second thread was the general concept of the Sapir–Whorf hypothesis, a concept I had never heard of before, I did a little reading up on it and I find it has been somewhat discredited.

But there is something in it, I am actually English and at one point in my life, it was necessary that I tried to pick up a smattering of the Indian Language Gujerati. I found that there were no clear words for " please " and " thank you " in classical Gujerati so I was forced to adopt very un-English non-verbal communications to help make these expressions. Very trying to for a stiff Brit where normally these terms are abundant in everyday speech. So this language did modify my observable behavior to some extent.

I am saving the Sapir-Worf hypothesis to drop into the conversation the next time I find myself intellectually browbeaten!
