Simply astounding.
I am not the biggest Elvis fan, but his life, as told by Guralnick, represents the American Dream. And his death is the American Reality. Moving, enthralling, exciting, redemptive, but above all, heartbreaking, this is not only one of the best music biographies I’ve read, but among the best non-fiction books I’ve ever read.
