Maybe I just like the “idea�� of Jules Verne more than the actual books of Jules Verne.

This is my 3rd book by him and to be honest, it was a chore to get through. First of all, I absolutely love Jules Verne movies. I grew up on them and yes I still love them cause I’m a huge fan of old films. The stories themselves are wonderful!!! As is this one. The idea of traveling to the center of the earth and coming across great adventures is amazing. However the execution of this in the form of writing was dull as dirt! Thank goodness the movies embellish a lot!!! If they stick to the book it would have been awful.

I didn’t care for the professor who seemed very uncaring and irresponsible nor the nephew who seemed so whiny!! And all the science around it all was just boring and took me out of the story.

As for the concepts of these Verne books, I love it! Very imaginative especially for the time. If only the writing was more entertaining with better written characters.
