Computer Power and Human Reason: From Judgment to Calculation

Would make this required reading to anybody in a STEM field.
Would highly recommend it to anybody who uses a computer.
Weizenbaum was a major figure of 20th century computer science and part of the AI vanguard. This book presents the technical topics in a way that's familiar and understanding. Then, he discusses much about the philosophy of computers - what they should and should not do, the impacts of irresponsible use of computers, and the hubris of computer and scientific intelligentsia in what he calls "conformism".
Cannot recommend highly enough.
