I couldn't give this book five stars, only because in the beginning I wasn't so sure I was going to like the book. In fact the whole first chapter I had to force myself to read. However, and I really don't know how Ms. Showalter did it, I slowly found myself coming to like Alice. I think I knew the book had me when she first met Cole. Two things bugged me though, she never reveals just why Justin betrayed the group, or just why Alice is so unique. Maybe in the second book? Anyways overall I really enjoyed the book.
