This book could have been great but it just wasn't for me. My two issues
It just ended. I wanted one last scene beteween Jack and Caroline but never got it.
I found that the prose was lacking dialogue between the h/h.
I am a huge fan of more interaction between the characters. Of course they have plenty of sexual interaction.
I will give Lisa Marie Rice's books another shot.

That happended to be with Echo in the Bone too. I thought for sure my book had a defect.

I agree with you in needing lots of interaction and dialogue between my h/h characters, and not just sexual interaction.
This will be my first read by Rice. Who can you compare her to? Anyone?

I just requested this from PBS and is waiting for its arrival. It will also be my first foray with this author. The review and comments don't sound so promising.

I think her Midnight series is still her best work, but you have to read all 3 books to get the needed "epilogue" because the characters and the stories are tightly connected. To quote a friend, bullets are still flying in the last page of Midnight Man and you only get to see the H/h's true HEA in the next book.
That said, I believe LMR has learned to listen to her readers' "complaints" - at least, that's what I gathered from her latest release, Dangerous Passion, which is one of her best books and it has a very nice epilogue. If you don't want to go for the whole Midnight series, I'd say Dangerous Passion is the best alternative to see if you like her writing.
I hope this helps. Happy reading! :)

I think LMR's writing style is similar to Shannon McKenna's. Their heroes are alpha to the core and borderline stalkerish, but LMR's heroes are less "psycho" than SM's. I don't think they're "nuts" like Anne Stuart's gamma heroes, because LMR's and SM's heroes are extremely protective of their heroines and the thought of hurting them never crosses their minds.
