R5: Team #9 ~ Divine Nine

I'm glad you did that. I was getting on to do the same thing when I saw your comment. I hope all is well with her. Didn't she mention going on vacation?

Half way through my shifter book. Hope to finish tonight.
No idea what I'm going to read for Ghosts.....anyway off to work.

Finished: Coyote Dreams

This is the third book in the Walker Papers series. In this one, Joanne Walker (real name of Siobbhan Walkingstick), continues to learn more about her Shaman abilities. A large number of the police in her area have fallen under a "blue flu," which really they are falling asleep and can't seem to wake up. She has to figure out what's going on and solve it before any of them die. Her character continues to grow in this book and I like that. I was hoping for a bit more romance, but overall I liked the progress of the story.
As for reading more in this series, I'm not sure if I will or not. I get to a certain point when they have a romantic tension in the book, that if it's not solved in some way I just think more about that than the story and I lose interest. I read some comments about the next few books, and there are a lot of thoughts along that line. She has another book due out this early 2013, so I think I will wait until that book comes out and if the reviews are better!

I had too much going on this weekend and will be several days behind with my review this week. I did get a chance to finish Here Kitty, Kitty! and loved it. These are great escape books when you need a break between heavy UF reads. They are violent and fun with sassy gals and shifter bashing humor.

Sue, very interested in Coyote Dreams as I picked it up at the Borders closing for next to nothing, then had to hunt up #1 & #2, luckily 2ndhand. Some friends like em & some can't stand em. So I had decided not to buy the rest till I've read what I've got. I've got a bad habit of just buying a series.
Nearly finished Second Grave :)

The Restorer

I really liked this book. I couldn't really pin-point the reason why...it just worked, somehow. It wasn't the run-of-the-mill ghost story. The author put a lot of effort in building the world for this story. The main characters (Amelia and Devlin) seemed real and were likable. The plot wasn't too elementary and left me wondering what was going to happen next.Â
I definitely plan on reading the next book in the series. In fact, as soon as I am done with this review I am going in search of it. I haven't read many ghost stories that don't also include other supes. That being said, The Restorer was a nice change of pace. Â I highly recommend it.

BTW, what's up with the Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ Over Capacity message I keep getting? Is it new, or is it just picking on me?

Almost as good as the first one. Snarkiness was at full throttle, maybe DJ gave it a little too much gas. Just a little OTT.
Charley, aka the Grim Reaper, is also a PI, and is given a missing person case by her assistant/friend/neighbour/go-to-gal Cookie. Cookie's friend Mimi is missing and lots of people around her are dying.
From the last book Reyes has disappeared from the hospital, though his incorporeal self still appears to Charley and continues to save her life. Reyes decides he wants his body to die and Charley decides she doesn't want that to happen. So back and forth they go, with Charley becoming increasingly frantic to find him as she discovers Reyes is being tortured by Demons.
Loved the T-shirt slogans and Bumper Stickers at the beginning of each chapter.
Looking forward to #3 to find out what happens next with Reyes & Charley.

Don't know about that one. Where are you seeing it?
Jennifer wrote: "I noticed the blue theme too. It will be interesting to see if Caroline's pick follows the same pattern. I've always associated ghosts with the color blue. Spooky! ;) Sandra, I love the Charlie Dav..."
I really like them Jennifer, but I preorder the MMP editions so I get them a little later than everyone else. My #3 is due out end of October and #4 hasn't been scheduled yet :(

Still in the steam building phase with Vlad, but it's moving along...

I read the first one in that series and enjoyed it well enough. So with your recommendation, I just put the second one, Go Fetch!, on hold at the library!
Sandra,
I like the Walker Paper series well enough, but I will say it's frustrating when there is a romantic tension that doesn't lead any place. That's why I'm waiting to see the reviews on the last book as well. Except for that, I do like the main character and find her dealing with the Shaman side of her interesting.

Jeez, you just zoomed past me... Ive had a busy work week and haven't been able to read on my lunch break, frustrating. So far I feel like I'm reading a YA book. I'm a little nervous because I didn't care for the last Cat & Bones book, it's been a DNF yet for me.

Lis, I finished it last night and it's cause I've been hanging to read it for over a week, and I'd put it into several challenges. Trust me it doesn't stay YA - *sizzling*.

Since I can't read and drive, listening to

I really wanted to like this more. I loved the first book and this one just doesn't cut the mustard.
The plot is pretty good, thief and maiden hunting for infamous diamond that can be used to ensnare the Drakon. Drakon maiden with precognition, who loves a man she knows so well from her dreams.
But I'm not convinced about the connection between the two main characters. Which spoils the overall feel of the book. Hence 3 not 4 stars.

To-Be-Continued? Yes
Review: Great start with this series spin-off. Leila, Vlad's love interest is a human with special skills that resulted from a freak accident which left her with the ability to elctrically zap people. She also gets flashes from objects and nasty visions of their deaths, their worst sins, and if living their present and possibile future. She has alienated herself from her family and uses her gymnastic skills as an act with her partner Marty, a 4 ft vampire. Her abilities have attracted Vlad's enemy who has her kidnapped so he can locate Vlad and kill him. Of course, Vlad rescues her which leads to his pursuit to de-flower her and locate this enemy who dared to attack Vlad Tepesh. Don't they know he Dracula, the man of legends, the impaler? Loved Vlad and liked how Leila's character evolves into someone not to be underestimated. The book moves at a good pace and action filled. Will admit the ending made say what? Definitely looking forward to the next book. And I'll say it again... What an Awesome cover - catches all Vlad's hawtness...

CAROLINE WE NEED A DATE FOR DREAM THIEF PLEASE

Lis, I admit the ending was WTF but the rest was so good I still went with 5 stars :) Now we just have to wait for #2.

Anyone ever watch Supernatural? Well this book reminds me of a young Dean doing what Winchesters do..... I think it could have been a 5 with a little bit of added depth and length.
Loved Cas, Anna and the crew. Loads of sweet scenes, dramatic scenes and some gory ones too. Really don't want to tell you any plot details, as you should really read it.
Would love to read a sequel.

Glad you enjoyed #1. Yay!!!!
And I've requested our Ghost stamp!!!!
