R5: Team #9 ~ Divine Nine

Glad you're still enjoying Jaz, I loved Robo Kitty :D
I'm sure Ms Rardin tried to get rid of some of her inner demons with all the inner dialogue, pity it didn't work :(
I couldn't wait for a new shelf and I'm a third the way through

I like the Weather Warden series because it's different like Crane's dillusionist. You read alot of series and it feels like a pattern and it's nice when a series comes along that has different supes with fun powers and challenges. This is very strong UF and no HEA with every book. So I tend to need a break between to split em up. Last one was really heavy with the emotional slaps.

No worries, Sue, whenever you finish is fine. Day trips sound good :)

Romance or PNR implies a HEA, UF could be HEA or more commonally HFN.
Lecture mode off :DDDDD

Angel Crawford was your typical white trash young adult. Living at home with just an out of work mostly drunk father, she can't hold down a job herself and doesn't really take care of herself. Then she finds herself in the hospital, apparently having OD'd, and no memory of it happening. As the story unravels, she finds that she has been turned into a zombie with just cryptic notes from whoever turned her as to how to help her through it. But instead of this being a bad thing, it's actually a good turning point for her as she starts to get her life (or undead life) back together. It's an interesting story and I like the main character. You feel for things she has gone through, and making tough decisions for the right reasons. It was an interesting book to read for this week!
Oh, and the day trip was a blast! It was national IPA day. So what better way to celebrate than at a few microbreweries!

Lis, I think if I had to carry the book around I would have been embarrassed, but it was digital so I could just laugh at it when I turned on my Kindle!

We've just got back home so hoping to finish book tomorrow.

Gunmetal Magic will certainly please all Kate fans :D
I'll be reading

Caroline, sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope he is doing well.

Caroline, I hope your FIL is doing better. Makes it even rougher if they don't live close by.

Number #4 in a long running homicide series, each book deals with different deaths but with the same cops and loved ones.
This one started while Eve & Roarke are still on honeymoon at a nice half built resort off planet, owned by Roarke, and of course Eve investigates a death that looks like self-termination, but just doesn't feel right.
When they get back to Earth and work, Eve gets Peabody assigned as her permanent aide and thus a great working relationship has begun.
Several more self-termination deaths of unlikely people pop up and Eve is hot on the case.
Mavis is singing again and her new agent Jess Barrow is causing Eve & Roarke some unusual side effects.
Is he the killer or is it someone else? Like all good mystery novels, you need to read it to find out.

4 Stars
Sabina - half mage half vampire is an assassin for the Dominae (Vampires) her mixed blood stops her from fully fitting in and leaves her feeling very much a second class citizen, but things are about to change.
Sabina learns more about her heritage, makes some new and interesting friends.
The book was slow to start, but soon picked up pace. We're introduced to some fun characters....look out for the hairless cat :o) Sabina is scarky and tough although I would hope she'd be a bit more mature.
I almost got a 3, but by the end I wanted to read the next one, so it took the leap to 4 out of 5.

To-Be-Continued? Definitely
Review: I love this world and even all the gory creatures the writing team throws at our H/hs... Andrea is working for Kate and her agency and is called out by Jim to investigate the murder of 4 shifters that were guarding the reclaimation site of Raphael's project. Problem! This book picks up after the battle that Andrea helped Kate out with and lead to her leaving the Order, not by choice. During that time of personal turmoil she alienated Raphael and their failure to communicate did not leave the Alpha of clan Bouda in a happy place. Just to piss Andi off, he brings his new fiancé by the office when she asks him in to interview about the new project. Just saying, does NOT go over well. In addition, Andrea is feeling the pressure to join the pack which she has avoided since her last pack left her with deep emotional and physical scars. So beastie battles, Raphael battles, Bouda battles, snake battles and with the magic back another baddie to battle, this is a fast paced read full of action thru to the end. My favorite part of this book is that Andrea is not hiding who she is any longer and gets in touch with her shifter side. Can't believe we now have to wait for the next release, these never last long enough...

I know what you mean by slow Caroline, I've started it myself and haven't finished it. But I will as I've got all the books. Luckily it wasn't a Bingo pick. So you've encouraged me to finally finish it, that and it's sitting on my side table near my comfy lounge. LOL.

Review:
I have to start off by saying that I really like this series. I like the way Kate's character developed and her relationship with Curran. This book though is more about her best friend, Andrea and her relationship with Raphael. There is a murder at Raphael's work and Andrea is called in to investigate. She has to do her work, as well as deal with Raphael and the way their relationship ended. The story is interesting, and I like the way Andrea's character developed. I also like the bits and pieces of humor written into the book!

I read it last week and gave it 5 stars as well, so that's 3 of us :DDD

Biting Cold
Series Catchup Shelf
08 August 2012
★★★★
Chicagoland Vampires is my absolute favorite series. I love Merit and, of course, Ethan. Â In Biting Cold we find Merit and Ethan (who was brought back to life only 24 hours earlier by Mallory) on a road trip across the country in order to stop Mallory and her quest to give the world a balance of good and evil. In the process, former mayor Seth Tate is outed as a demon/angel who is set on serving justice where justice has not been served. The gang is then determined to do what is needed in order to save their beloved Chicago.Â
This was a great read. The author brought in some new supes and did a good job with it. I love Neill's writing style and can't wait for the next book to be released.Â

I loved it! It's hard for me to be objective with this series because it's my absolute favorite. I hope you like!

Had to take a break for Beach Volleyball. Doing my happy *sand dance*, what a great day for Misty and Kerri... I sure hope my kids are tall, so I can watch them play.

Glad you loved it Jennifer ;) I've got the books just haven't started that series yet; trying to finish a few before I start lots of new ones.

So I'm trying to get thru some short freebies until the next shelf announcement. Shelf, shelf!

To-Be-Continued? Yes, just one more to go...
Review: The CIA assasin team is in Marrakech looking for Rocenz which is a demon tool that can be split into a hammer to chisel the name of the demon Brude on the gates of hell and get him out of Jasmine's head, where he is slowly killing her. Big problem is that Vayl has been cursed and is living back in the 1700's and thinks Jasmine is his maid. Worse is thats its Jaz's birthday and the one she loves is lost and she is struggling to find a way to bring him back. Of course this is laced with the usual silly like Jaz stalker Yosef, wizard Sterling who Jaz head butted once and left with a Harry Potter scar, and Robo kitty moments. The second half picks up and it gets much better when they confront the weres and are back after the tool. We are reminded why Vayl is the one and several of the team members are required to rise to the challenge. Personally, I think the fact that her head is so over crowded with Granny May, Inner Bimbo, Teen Self and Librarian its sucking the life out of her. I get so confused with her inner dialog and segues that I struggle at times to make it thru this series that I really do like, minus all the crazy side jibber.
