You seem to assume that you have to blog about you and your day to day life, but as with writing a book, the subject matter is entirely up to you. You can post short stories or excerpts from past or upcoming books. You can talk about current events, politics, celebrities, music, other authors, or anything else that interests you. One of the most successful blogs out there is Perez Hilton's and he doesn't talk about himself at all. If you are writing books that people want to read, chances are you can write an interesting blog post once in a while.

Grigory Leps | 2 comments I was a customer of and tried out the service. I was not happy with it and they refused to help me with getting another writer to mix his mistakes. He was from Pakistan and didn't even know how to write English. See this video to help you understand what their perspective on doing business is. Visit the site I made for more information and CONCRETE PROOF that is a SCAM

Cavegirlmba | 2 comments Thanks for discussing this question - I have been asking the same question myself for months now. So far, I have not made up my mind, but I am running two sites in parallel, one on wordpress and one on blogger.
The obvious drawback is the little extra effort of publishing the posts on both sides. Does anyone of you know of any other disadvantage, e.g. negative effect on search engines?
The sites are on wordpress and on blogger.

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Grigory Leps | 2 comments My Review
is a big, fat, outrageous scam. A few months ago I happened to place an order for a 20 page paper through their website. With “transparent writer reviews and “affordable prices, I thought I was making the best choice available. I was wrong. (A bit of background information: I am a senior in college who wanted a sample paper to help me complete my comps). When I first saw website, it didn’t seem horrible. They promised low prices and their writers seemed American or at least fluent in the English language (stupid me thinking that their writers names were real). But what was advertised as $7.50 per page quickly spiraled into $25 and $30 per page. On top of that, I realized that if you didn’t buy from a pricey writer, your paper was going to be complete shit. Like illegible. Like an F. So after I placed my order with a writer named God-knows-what in real life, I sat and waited for my paper. I had written a draft of my paper already and was going to use this to ease the process. What I got was COMPLETE GARBAGE. The paper was formatted incorrectly, it didn’t reach the page limit I PAID FOR, and didn’t even address the topics I requested. I think assumes that students who use their service are complete idiots. Some may be. But I am not. I ordered a paper with them because I care about my grades (who doesn’t when paying 50K a year for school) and wanted to IMPROVE my dissertation. So, what did they do when I called to ask for a partial refund? They told ME that nothing could be done. That the terms and conditions I agreed too were set in stone and that it was my fault for having selected the writer that I did.

Essentially they told me that they can take my money but not offer a shred of accountability when one of their employees fucks up. WOW. And then here’s the best part: when I called to speak with someone about giving a negative review of their service, they told me they would find out where I go to school and make sure I would always regret speaking poorly about them. Real professional. So, as an aspiring computer programmer, A REALLY PISSED OFF CUSTOMER, and someone who doesn’t give a flying fuck that these scam artists have my contact information, I created this website to inform students around the world that is a scam. I encourage fellow students who have been scammed by this company to give their reviews on as well. The more reviews the merrier.

As I dug a deeper review of past, I found some pretty scary things. Like for instance that their writers are almost all Pakistani (over 30% of their daily web traffic comes from the country) and use FAKE AMERICAN NAMES to pretend they are native English speakers. Isn’t it time this bullshit be investigated? I don’t care what you think about paper writing services (whether you believe they are ethical or not) but at least take down the companies that are pure scams like
Click on this link and wow yourself:

That’s right, this website is one of the top 12,000 most viewed in FUCKING PAKISTAN.
Why? Because they are the “English speaking writers this fucked up company hires. I have also found evidence that suggests they have other writers in India and the Philippines. I know of a couple of companies that offer real English writers and I thought was one of them. Turns out they’re just a bunch of liars.

The scam is real. They are thieves who could care less about you. Maybe you’ve had a couple decent papers from them. But sleep well knowing that they will take any measure to screw you over.

That’s enough. Rant’s over. Fuck you,

Sincerely,
A VERY PISSED OFF FORMER CUSTOMER

Taylor on June 4, 2013 at 10:52 PM said:
You are right. I have been debating with them for at least a month now, trying to get my refunds, it’s because the writer can’t even write shit or follow the prompt. Claimed to be “professional yeah right. They also claimed that they refunded my money already by just clearing out my balance. However, the email I received from money bookers still saying I was charged on that date. They lied & keep on saying “your refunds should be in 4-6. i waited & after 2 weeks, still nothing. I keep on checking back even though they closed my inquiry many times. I mean, I only uploaded $55 for the balance, but I didn’t use it. The money isn’t that a big deal, it’s just the writers & their service is poorly done. I cancelled the writer because 1. Passed deadline 2. The paper was off topic, completely vague, lacks development & much more. 3. way different from U.S writing style 4. Busy schedule & I just want to try how this service work. Personally, i definitely to not recommend this service.

message 107: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Dietz | 354 comments I have a blog on Blogger/blogspot as well as one on Wordpress. I had a difficult time setting up the Wordpress blog at first, because it assumes more intuitive knowledge than I (obviously) have.

However, I will admit that Wordpress certainly gets a lot more traffic from a variety of sources, whereas my blogspot blog only gets traffic from the places where I promote it (Facebook, Google+, and Twitter)—and often those spam-type places like vampirestat and adsensewatchdog. Wordpress is set up much better in that aspect, and it has a more professional look as well, for no cost. I don't see any traffic generated from spam places, either, on the Wp blog.

If it wouldn't involve setting everything up all over again and starting from scratch with a new URL, I would move my Blogger blog to Wordpress, simply for the traffic.

Kate (Thanh Vy) (katethanhvy) | 2 comments Thanks so much for sharing. This post is so helpful! I am a brand-new blogger. I have question that if I have plan to earn money with Google Adsense, I ask this because you are very knowledgeable. Thank you

message 109: by Lynda (new)

Lynda Dietz | 354 comments I've never thought of including ads on my blog. I blog to get my thoughts out there, and can't imagine it would earn enough money to compensate for how annoying it would be to those who visit my blog.

I'm curious to hear from others who do advertise on theirs, though.

Sarah (sarahvistica) | 22 comments I actually use Blogger for my author page. For me it is the best choice. I don't have an interest in using wordpress, but I have nothing against wordpress. blogger is simply easier to use.

I have an ad at the bottom of my page to advertise other products and an ad at the top to advertise my books though the image quality messed up a little, but only in the ad. I don't use Google adsense.

If anyone wants to see what my ads look like visit my page. I could use more traffic.

That's a nice blog, Sarah. With the little fish, the ad on the bottom is not at all distracting. Well done.

Decker Schutt (dschutt) | 3 comments i used blogspot for several years until a friend, who was using wordpress for a business site, told me that although he liked my blog, it was not very professional looking. i switched to wordpress and was immediately happier with the appearance.

while i agree that blogspot is more easily customizable and a little more flexible, it does not have the "feel" of wordpress. it does not have the networking audience of wordpress. once i switched, i was very happy at how my readership grew.

my writing would not be what it is now without wordpress.

message 113: by Martyn (new)

Martyn Halm (amsterdamassassinseries) | 915 comments I've been using wordpress since February 2011 and I have two blogs. One is for my business, the other is for 'promoting' the Amsterdam Assassin Series.

As to content, I write a lot about Amsterdam, writing tools and methods, self-editing, info-dumps, I copy my GR reviews to my blog, and I keep people posted on the WIPs, with posting samples, etcetera.

To get visitors onto your blog, I think what works best is to have a Gravatar, and comment often on other people's articles. If people enjoy your comments, they are likely to check you out.

Also, giving interviews and having people spreading your articles around the internet is a good way to get yourself 'known'. I wrote a column on Quora over why a writer should use the speech tag 'said' and that was copied to a well-read blog, from where other people re-blogged it, so that can spread like wildfire.

Lance Charnes (lcharnes) | 327 comments One thing to look out for with Blogspot is that overseas readers may not be able to get to your blog. Blogspot seems to want to connect you only to the localized site that's "correct" for your IP location.

This just happened to me a couple weeks ago: a friend sent me a link to a Blogspot site, but I was in Hong Kong and Blogspot would only connect me to the HK Blogspot pages. It also wouldn't work correctly in Japan.

Brandon | 22 comments I am quite satisfied with Wordpress. I think I paid a little extra to have the special fonts that I wanted, but it wasn't a big deal (to me). I have never tried BlogSpot, so I couldn't rightfully compare, but I've been pleased with my Wordpress site for quite some time. I like all of the widgets you can use, and it is easy to set up so that it looks like a regular full-fledged website, nested pages and all, rather than just a typical blog.

Here is my Wordpress site... you can see what I did with it, including widgets and sidebar stuff, and how I organized the art design and the various pages. The only thing I paid money for was the special fonts.

The BIGGEST thing you'll want to consider with Word Press is that it's SEO friendly, meaning that's built in to the site.

The level of site customization CAN require a knowledge of CSS but it's not necessary for most basic things for an author site. Both and are word press hosted, but I've seen some author sites that you can't tell what the back end looks like.

Abrar Mohi Shafee | 1 comments I always vote for wordpress between wordpress and blogger. Because there are many disadvantages in bloggers which are effective in wordpress.

The most disgusting thing in blogger is all rights are to Google. They can remove an entire blog anytime. So, that is so ridiculous as happened to many popular blogs.

If you need more, you should check our my comparison for choosing .

If you would rather be writing books, blogging can be a great waste of your time. Personally I also like writing blog entries or what I call "articles" about different topics.

Donna (donnapep) I would say that if you're uncomfortable with technology in general and aren't terribly interested in learning more, then Blogger is your best choice.

However, if you enjoy learning new things, technology doesn't "scare" you, and you want more flexibility and features, then go for WordPress. There is just so much that you can do with it thanks to the power of plugins. As an example, I am the author of the , which is free for anyone to use on their WordPress blogs.

I'd be happy to answer any WordPress specific questions you may have.

Are you complaining that you got cheated while attempting to buy a college paper written by a professional service? I hope I have misunderstood you since turning in a purchased paper is considered cheating/plagiarism. When caught, you can and should be expelled from the college/university. This goes on your permanent record and would make it hard for you to be accepted at another college.

A competent writing professor can spot one sentence not written by the student in question.

Please, write your own papers with no outside help. That's how you learn. If you need assistance, most colleges have free (legal) services that can walk you through the process, thus guiding you to success you can be proud of..
