This year has flown by and the holidays are quickly approaching. Many of us spend the holidays with our families and we reflect back on the things we are thankful for. Since moving away from my family a couple of years ago, I have become more appreciative of them now that we don't get to spend every holiday together. So, in honor of my family.....

Read 1 book from 3 different family members.

Required: Please state the three family members and the option for that member when you post. If using cover options, please include the book’s cover in your post.

If choosing the author option: Author's middle name/initial may be omitted.

All standard SRC book guidelines apply.

1.My Mom
Mom loves to read and tend to her flower beds. Her favorite books are about the Amish.

Option A: Read a book with 'Historical Fiction' or 'Romance' listed as a genre on its GR home page.

Option B: Read a book (fiction or non) about the Amish.

Option C: Read a book with flowers on the cover.

2.My Step-Dad
He is a very talented, professional musician and has played/performed with some very well known artists. Besides playing music, two of his favorite pastimes are sports and doing crossword puzzles.

Option A: Read a book that has a musical instrument, sheet music or musical notes on the cover.

Option B: Read a book about sports or athletes (fiction or non). Required: Please explain if not obvious on book's GR home page

Option C: Read a book by an author whose initials can be found in any order in CROSSWORDPUZZLE.

3. Robin - Yes, I'm including myself
I love to read. Since joining GR I have started reading books in all different genres such as YA and Paranormal. I spend lots of time on GR participating in the groups and challenges.

Option A: Read a book with 'Young Adult' or 'Paranormal' listed as a genre on its GR home page.

Option B: Read a book that has a bird on its cover OR a book with the name of a common bird species in its title (example: robin, hawk, owl, wren, sparrow, bluejay cardinal, mockingbird, blackbird, pigeon, dove, bluebird, etc). Plurals and possessives of a bird name will be accepted, but no other variations. The generic "bird", "bird's" or "birds" as a stand-alone word WILL NOT be accepted

Option C: Read a book by an author whose first name is Robin. There are various spellings of my name. I will ONLY accept: Robin or Robyn

4.My Oldest Son aka Big J
Big J was born on Pearl Harbor Day. He is an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and his favorite book genre is fantasy.

Option A: Read a book that has a predominately red cover.

Option B: Read a book set during or about WW II (1939-1945) OR set in Hawaii. Fiction or Non-fiction books will work. Required: Please explain if not obvious on book's GR home page

Option C: Read a book with 'Fantasy' listed as a genre on its GR home page.

5.My Youngest Son aka Lil J or Roo
Lil J was born on Friday the 13th. He has recently become addicted to reading and watching (on Netflix) The Walking Dead, Book One series. His other favorite pastime is playing basketball.

Option A: Read a book that is part of a series. Required: The book must be identified as being part of a series on GRs (i.e., Series Name, book #)

Option B: Read a book with 'Horror' or 'Zombies' listed on its GR home page.

Option C: Read a book by an author whose initials can be found in any order in BASKETBALL.

6.Saturn and Murphy-My Furry Kids
Although furry and of the canine species, they are a big part of my family. Saturn (female) is a black and white pitbull/great dane mix. Murphy(male) is a fawn(golden yellow) and white pitbull/mastiff mix. October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and both of my fur babies were rescued from shelters.

Option A: Read a book (fiction or non) about a dog(s). Required: Dogs (Animals>Dogs) must be listed as a genre on book's GR home page

Option B: Read a book that has a predominately black, yellow, or black AND yellow cover.

Hi Michelle!! I think you are asking about #2 Option C. Lee Child WOULD work for # 2 Option C. Initials can be found in any order.

Michelle (mnmgbwi) | 197 comments ha ha... that's what I get for rushing (wrong #).

If your son likes the Walking Dead, tell him to read World War Z by Max Brooks. I just finished it and it is the best zombie book that I have read yet! And, I am thankful to have a challenge for it. =)

Thanks!

The Yips by Nicola Barker. One of the main characters is a pro golfer, and from the little I've read of it, he goes on and on about golf.

Kara (karaayako) Quick question, Robin. I'm thinking about reading a book by two authors. One of the authors has initials that can be found in "ADOPTASHELTERDOG." Will that suffice, or will both authors' initials need to be in there?

This is the book: Glass Ceilings and 100-Hour Couples: What the Opt-Out Phenomenon Can Teach Us about Work and Family

Since I didn't make any specifications for books with more than one author, as long as one of the author's initials can be found in "ADOPTASHELTERDOG" I will accept it
