Yay or nay? These are, after all, the two official Canadian languages, and we have one Canadian member whose primary language seems to be French.

Connie G (connie_g) How many other people in the group can read or write French? I took French in high school so I might be able to read some simple French, but it's been too many years ago to remember how to write it.

Connie, there are two members that I've counted so far whose primary language seems to be French, and a couple that I'm not sure of because there's not much on the profile, or because the profile is set to private.
I would like some of the members who primarily speak French to be able to participate in the group, instead of sitting on the sidelines.

That's fine, Melissa. It would be good practice to brush up on trying to read French.

Janice (jamasc) I think we have to go with the majority. If there are some French threads, the vast majority of the group will be excluded and unable to participate in those conversations.

Connie G (connie_g) Maybe you could have a thread for Canadian books published only in French. The bilingual and French speaking members could list books. Since those books are written in French, the members that read in English would not be missing anything since they can't read them anyway.

I looked at people's "favorite" shelves, and it seemed like only one person was reading only in French.

Ok, then. We'll go with the majority, and perhaps create a thread for Canadian books published in French.

That's a great idea and good compromise.
