Ty | 1943 comments February Monthly Reading Challenge - Participants

This thread is for participants to post their lists and update their progress. The thread for suggestions is HERE.

1. 'F' is for February: Read a book that starts with 'F' or by an author whose first or last name begins with 'F'.

2. Happy Birthday!: Read a book from a February birthday celebrant's GR bookshelf whose name/nickname starts with the same letter as yours OR match the date of your birthday (1-31) to a member on the February birthday list.

If neither of these options work, select a match as close as possible (either side of the initial or date).
February Birthday List

3. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the . Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Israel is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover.

4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2): In the movie Groundhog Day, the Bill Murray character is doomed to relive the same day over and over again, leading to shenanigans, laughter, tears, and ultimately, a life re-examination. Read a book involving life-altering choices or time, either time travel, a time loop, or a historical/futuristic/non-contemporary time.

5. Superbowl Sunday (Feb 3): Are you ready for some footbaaaaaall! Here in the States, Superbowl Sunday is practically considered a holy day for some: whether you're an actual fan of the sport, the half-time show, or the commercials XD. Read a sports-themed book: athletes, sportscasters, sports reporters, agents, etc. Or if you're like me (most of the time) and just like to watch the half-time show and commercials, read a story where the character is a musician or involved in the entertainment or advertising industry.

6. Lunar New Year (Feb 10): It's the Year of the Snake! Lunar New Year is extremely popular across the Asian culture. Read a book with a main character who's Asian, or by an Asian author, or any book related to snakes, dragons (a mythical creature found in many Asian folktales), fireworks, or good fortune. OR read a manga.

7. Valentine's Day (Feb 14): Read a book with hearts on the cover or a book about high school/college sweethearts, or young love (yes, YA counts).

8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): Read a fairy tale! Or read a retelling of a fairy tale, or a book about faerie, fairies, or the fey.

9. Chocolate Lovers' Month; Read a book where chocolate, sweets, desserts, or baked goods is the main theme or is on the cover/title, or a book where a character is obsessed with sweets/chocolate/etc. OR read a book that you consider a guilty pleasure. XD

10. Reader's Choice: Read any book of your choice.

You can choose 3, 5, 8 or all 10 categories, depending on your reading speed, book availability, and/or time commitments.

When posting your progress, please make sure to put the date you finished each book.

Please repost your progress as it helps with updating!

Happy Reading!

1. 'F' is for February: Read a book that starts with 'F' or by an author whose first or last name begins with 'F'.
Fair Play (New York Blades #2) by Deirdre Martin 02/14/13

2. Happy Birthday!: Read a book from a February birthday celebrant's GR bookshelf whose name/nickname starts with the same letter as yours OR match the date of your birthday (1-31) to a member on the February birthday list.
February Birthday List
Amanda - Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark #11) by Kresley Cole 02/09/13

3. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the Middle East. Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Israel is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover.
Styx's Storm (Breeds #22) by Lora Leigh 02/02/13

If You Desire (MacCarrick Brothers #2) by Kresley Cole 02/11/12

Body Check (New York Blades #1) by Deirdre Martin 02/13/13

The Dragon Who Loved Me (The Dragon Kin #5) by G.A. Aiken 02/06/13

7. Valentine's Day (Feb 14): Read a book with hearts on the cover or a book about high school/college sweethearts, or young love (yes, YA counts).
River Cast (The Tale of Lunarmorte #2) by Samantha Young 02/08/13

8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): Read a fairy tale! Or read a retelling of a fairy tale, or a book about faerie, fairies, or the fey.
Blood Solstice (The Tale of Lunarmorte #3) by Samantha Young 02/09/13

9. Chocolate Lovers' Month; Read a book where chocolate, sweets, desserts, or baked goods is the main theme or is on the cover/title, or a book where a character is obsessed with sweets/chocolate/etc. OR read a book that you consider a guilty pleasure. XD
If You Deceive (MacCarrick Brothers #3) by Kresley Cole 02/12/13

10. Reader's Choice: Read any book of your choice.
Lion's Heat (Breeds #21) by Lora Leigh 02/01/13

February Monthly Reading Challenge
Duration:
2/1/2013 - 2/28/2013

Progress: 10 out of 10

1. 'F' is for February: Read a book that starts with 'F' or by an author whose first or last name begins with 'F':
Daytripper by Fábio Moon - - 2/8/2013

2. Happy Birthday!: Happy Birthday Sallie(Shuga):
The Day I Shot Cupid: Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic by Jennifer Love Hewitt - - 2/19/2013

3. Geography: Read a book whose author, character, or setting is from Israel. Other options: You may also read a book set in the Middle East. Israel is (in)famous for religious and political strife. Thus, you can also read a book about religion or politics/politicians or with characters in the armed forces. The national flag of Israel is blue and white - you may read a book with a predominantly blue or white cover:
Lover Unbound by J.R. Ward - *** - 2/6/2013

4. Groundhog Day (Feb 2): In the movie Groundhog Day, the Bill Murray character is doomed to relive the same day over and over again, leading to shenanigans, laughter, tears, and ultimately, a life re-examination. Read a book involving life-altering choices or time, either time travel, a time loop, or a historical/futuristic/non-contemporary time:
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs - *** - 2/12/2013

Or if you're like me (most of the time) and just like to watch the half-time show and commercials, read a story where the character is a musician or involved in the entertainment or advertising industry:
Seraphina by Rachel Hartman - - 2/11/2013

OR read a manga:
Gunmetal Magic by Ilona Andrews - - 2/15/2013

7. Valentine's Day (Feb 14): Read a book with hearts on the cover or a book about high school/college sweethearts, or young love (yes, YA counts):
Vanish by Sophie Jordan - **** - 2/20/2013

8. Tell a Fairy Tale Day (Feb 26): Read a fairy tale! Or read a retelling of a fairy tale, or a book about faerie, fairies, or the fey:
Darkling by Yasmine Galenorn - - 2/7/2013

9. Chocolate Lovers' Month: Read a book where chocolate, sweets, desserts, or baked goods is the main theme or is on the cover/title, or a book where a character is obsessed with sweets/chocolate/etc. OR read a book that you consider a guilty pleasure. XD:
Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel - - 2/18/2013

10. Reader's Choice: Read any book of your choice:
Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance by Barack Obama - - 2/1/2013

Dreams from My Father A Story of Race and Inheritance by Barack Obama Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward Darkling (Otherworld / Sisters of the Moon #3) by Yasmine Galenorn Daytripper by Fábio Moon Seraphina (Seraphina, #1) by Rachel Hartman Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine, #1) by Ransom Riggs Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World, #1) by Ilona Andrews Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel The Day I Shot Cupid Hello, My Name Is Jennifer Love Hewitt and I'm a Love-aholic by Jennifer Love Hewitt Vanish (Firelight, #2) by Sophie Jordan
