Sarah (sekaplan) I have never read Ann Patchett before and I suspect that most people would have reccomended that I start with Truth & Beauty, or Bel Canto, or her first book, The Patron Saint of Liars, but I found this one on the Scribd book website and I was intrigued by the title, so there you go.

This is a book of collected essays that she has written over the years for different magazines and journals. Some of it resonated with me and some if it less so, but it is all true and all from her perspective, so that's to be expected. I am intrigued enough to pick up another one of her books -- a friend said that she really liked Bel Canto, so I may start there.

She also writes about writing. There are some books and authors she talks about in one of her essays (the longest, and what I would say is the best one: The Getaway Car) that I am super excited about.
