message 51: by Camille (new)

Camille Is there a mod that can answer my POST #27 on the 20.5: Emma thread?

Thank you!

message 52: by Jenifer (new)

Jenifer (jensamaha) | 263 comments On the readerboard, I am listed as having 65 points. My own records show that I have 55 points. Did I miss 10 points somewhere or forget that posted something?

Kate found 10 combo points for you from your Post 254:

Camille I have 12 Reviews for 12 books, does this not qualify me for the Group Reads on the Readerboard? I was on earlier in the challenge then had to replace a task because I goofed on a YA book. I've corrected my entries.

Thanks for checking!

Maybe there is some confusion. Your Post #387 for Sweet Thursday is included in your total. You have 13 books, but because of the YA on that one, only 12 reviews count.

message 57: by Camille (new)

Camille I replaced that book in post #387 with another book in post #532 so that it would qualify.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments They both count. Did you want to remove #387 entirely? We didn't understand that if that is what you intended.

message 59: by Camille (new)

Camille I wanted post #532 to be my task book, and post #387 to be a second book for that task for additional points. That was the reason for my question in that same post #532. If I need to delete post #387 in order to stay in the standings I will do so, but I thought it could be repeated as a second task.

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments Please don't delete your post - we keep score by post number and all of the scoring from that point onward will be off.

You can post that you want #387 to not count at all if you wish. My answer following #532 was that you can repeat tasks as many times as you wish. They all count.

message 61: by Camille (new)

Camille I understand they all count, but if #532 is not used as my task, then I am out of Group Reads. That's what I'm confused about.

message 62: by Elizabeth (Alaska) (last edited Apr 21, 2013 07:41PM) (new)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments Your score includes 13 16 RwS tasks (both of the 20.4 tasks), plus three 20th Century tasks. If you wish not to count one of the 20.4 tasks (#387), then you need to make a new post to let us know that.

message 63: by Camille (new)

Camille I want to include both posts in my OVERALL score, but to be included in Group Reads I need 100% for reviews on tasks. I have this due to the corrected post #532. Am I making sense? Because I'm not listed in Group Reads Leaders on the Readerboard--the list under the total scores list.

Liz M Camille wrote: "I want to include both posts in my OVERALL score, but to be included in Group Reads I need 100% for reviews on tasks. I have this due to the corrected post #532. Am I making sense?..."

Camille,

Every book claimed for a 10 or 20 point task is included in the calculations for Group Reads Leaders, no matter if it is the first time you complete a task or the fifth time. Unfortunately, it is not possible to both maintain your perfect review score (ie, 12/12 books earning review points) and include the book from post 387 (which does not earn review points) in your grand total.

So sorry for the confusion -- the rules/scoring does get complicated with all the possible style points & different ways of earning rewards!

Ok, it's making a little more sense now, but that brings about another question for me: What about the extra books I read for another task? Those counted because I wrote reviews, correct?

message 66: by Elizabeth (Alaska) (last edited Apr 21, 2013 07:38PM) (new)

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments Yes, all 3 books you posted for 20.5 Emma count toward your Readerboard total and are part of the 12/13 15/16 books for which you wrote reviews.

Ok. I think I'm getting it now. Since Post #387 didn't count for style, then the review I wrote for it did not count. Therefore, if I want to get back to my 100% I need to delete that post altogether.....am I on the right track?

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments Yes, but don't actually delete the post! Just post that you don't want to count that book, and we'll back out the score for it.

message 69: by Camille (new)

Camille By George, I think I've got it!

Sorry for all the confusion---y'all are so patient and helpful!

Thank you!!!!!!!!!

Elizabeth (Alaska) | 14103 comments Glad we finally said it in a way that made sense!

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2587 comments Are you sure the book is YA for sure? You may think they are YA but not YA at all. I checked the book page and it says it is realistic fiction and children-middle grade which is different than YA. I don't know how they affect your points.

The only way we determine YA (or Juvenile) is when BPL indicates it is. So, when BPL doesn't have the book shelved, it isn't YA/Juv for the purposes of this group. I so appreciate your wanting to keep to the spirit of the rule, but we're going to do our darnedest to follow the rules the way we have stated them. You can grab your styles!

message 73: by Arow (new)

Arow Hi everyone,

I have finished reading two books that I loved and I can't seem to find a spot to fit them into the challenge. I have already used up my 10.1 Square Peg so I just thought I would post here to see if anyone can find a spot that I have over looked.

Sacré Bleu: A Comedy d'Art by Christopher Moore

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Thanks in advance for your help!

message 74: by Camille (new)

Camille I want to read A Mississippi Moonlight by Vicky Renee Johnson as 10.1: Square Peg. I think it qualifies....someone check to make sure I'm in the clear on this one.

The main question I have is that it is only an ebook--Nook says pps 119, but I don't know if that a conversion or actual pages.

Any help is appreciated! THANKS!

There is a paperback edition which has 186 pages, and we will use that pagination. A quick glance says it doesn't qualify for other tasks, so it should fit your Square Peg.

I can't believe Christopher Moore is not on the lists of satirists but I didn't see him.

I had exactly the same reaction. I checked there, too, trying to help Arow out. I guess once the challenge is over, we should see about adding him to the list!

Bea Would Roses work for square peg?

Thanks Karen & Rebekah for looking. I thought for sure he would have been on the satirists list as well but I did not see him there.

Oh well...I will just chalk it up to books I really enjoyed reading.

Thanks again!

Kathleen (itpdx) (itpdx) | 1707 comments The Reader Board shows me with 555 points as of post 786. The total I posted in post 780 was 580. I haven't seen any notes that I have made an error.

Today is a scorekeeping day, and Kate will look at your scores this evening.

Found and corrected. Your corrected score will show up on next update Sunday.

I'm not sure where there might have been a discrepancy, but we agree your score is 580 through Post 804. The Readerboard will be updated again this weekend.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 2587 comments That's why I post every task when I finish it.
