Elisabeth (elisabeth7291) | 24 comments We're almost half-way through the year. How are you doing on the challenge?

I'm feeling pretty good about where I am - I only have 16 to go. However, I know the last few will be the hardest because I'll have to work harder and be more intentional about what books I select. I appreciate all the links to lists people have posted here!

Valerie | 280 comments I only have two to go, and one of them...book that takes place in the future...is one I was waiting for one of my favorite author's book to come out. It comes out next month.

The other is the 500 page book. I have two that I may use for this, and one is on my list for another challenge, so it might be what I use. But, I have 6 months to do that in. Not that I could not have used the Phillipa Gregory for it, but I figured I would choose one from my TBR pile especially for this.

Congrats to EVERYONE who participated in this. No matter how many you have done, or how many you have left. Just giving yourself a challenge, going out of your comfort zone, and reading in and of itself is the whole point.

Congrats to you Elisabeth on your progress. You have done fantastic!

Kristina I have 20 categories left, including the trilogy category, but I'm feeling good about my reading pace. I already know what I want to read for the rest of the challenge, but I may make a few minor adjustments since I'm in a monthly book club. Since I filled my list with books that I was already interested in reading for the most part, I'm pretty excited for the rest of the year.

±·²¹³Ùá±ô¾±²¹ Lopes (silkcaramel) I still have half the categories to go, but my winter vacation is coming up and I'll be picking up the pace. I'm confortable with how I'm handling this challenge, I've already read way more books than I did by the same time last year. I also have the rest of the categories planned out, and I'm a fast reader, so I'm confident that I'll at least get closer to my goal!

Thomas Hillring (dakkster) I'm at 23 books with three more getting done soon. I'm pretty close to hitting 50% of my page count as well, so things are looking okay.

message 6: by Kathy (new)

Kathy I have read 30 so far. Looking good, but I have some tough categories coming up. I have read quite a bit more this year than I have by this time in previous years.

message 7: by Becky (new)

Becky K I'm at 21 completed books for this challenge, a pretty good dent! I'm in 3 other challenges as well, but only one of those has categories to read from. Overall I'm at 32 books read overall this year (several over 500 pgs, so I'm glad not to have that hanging over me), so we'll see how many I get done. My goals are 60 books for the year, with at least 36 unread ones that I owned prior to this year. Really glad for my 30 min bus commutes, they're helping a lot!

message 8: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I've read 33 books so far, which is way more than I usually read. I'm definitely making more time to read and have enjoyed most of the books I've read. There have been a few that I've struggled through and was determined to finish because of the challenge. I've tried to alternate between books I was really looking forward to reading with those not so much. Was surprised to find that some that I thought I would love,I didn't and those that I wasn't looking forward to it, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed.

Elisabeth (elisabeth7291) | 24 comments It is so exciting to see so many challenging themselves, reading more books than usual, being well ahead of the 50% mark! For me, that's what these challenges are about- stretch goals!

Way to go, everyone!

message 10: by Jade (new)

Jade Lauron | 5 comments I'm furiously reading, since I started late stuff I read from the beginning of the year until now didn't necessarily match the categories.

That said, because of this challenge, this might be the year I finally meet my insane reading goal!

message 11: by Charlotte (new)

Charlotte Weber I'm still behind in my reading though not as much. I'm not as discouraged about it now though because I know if I push myself I can get back on track. That said, I've already read more this year than in the last several so I'm still proud of what I've accomplished so far and look forward to what lies ahead. There are several books that I'm anxious to get to.

Elisabeth (elisabeth7291) | 24 comments I want a like button for your comments!

message 13: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Hillring (dakkster) Right, so I'm just about to hit 26 books (probably tomorrow) and I'm at 45% of the page count. That's after I switched out a bunch of paper books to audio books in my plans. I still feel that I can do this, but it'll be tight. This next month will be important for me when it comes to paper books. I'm devouring audio books so far and I've read too little in paper books. Need to change that.

message 14: by James (new)

James Johnson (jimocracy) | 3 comments I completed my 42nd category today. Since I've finished reading the trilogy, that means I only have 8 books left to read. I should be finished with this challenge in the month of July.

message 15: by Shannan (new)

Shannan | 51 comments I'm just a book or two behind pace, but I'm feeling good about my progress. I've already read more this year than last year and the challenge is pushing me to find pockets of time to read in instead of surfing the net, so even if I don't finish, the challenge has been a definite positive!
