July
The Final State of Origin 2015 Ruby League Match
Queensland vs NSW, Mate against Mate, State against State - Go the Blues!
It is best of 3 games and it stands at one a piece at the moment - Final match is 8 July.
~ Read a book with either a red or blue cover, or where mates (friends) go against each other.

It is also school holidays, starting 29 June for the next 2 weeks for both Primary & High Schools.
~ Read a book with children, or where the MCs go on vacation.

Ashes Cricket starts 8 July. This is the biggest cricket event - England vs Australia. It began way back in the 1800s and happens alternately in UK & Aus every 2 to 4 yrs. This year its happening in England.
~ Read a book set in the UK, so Scotland would apply if anyone wants to read a Highlander :) or where a sporting event of any kind happens.

August
NSW Bank holiday - always the first Monday in August, loved it when I used to work in the Bank, many moons ago.
~ Read a book you have been looking forward to, or one you would read on vacation, even if its only for one day.

End of Winter, August is the last month of winter, so it is the height of the skiing season.
~ Read a book set in winter or mentions snow or skiing.

Whale watching, it is also whale watching season as the whales migrate from Antarctica up the east coast of Australia. Picture is of Migaloo, the extremely rare white humpback whale that appears every year.
~ Read a book set near the sea or a body of water or mentions whales.

Short & Sweet Theatre Festival - Queensland, 18th to 24th August. Taking place in Brisbane, The Short & Sweet festival brings 10 minute theatre to Queensland.
~ Read a short story or an Anthology of short stories

September
Father's Day, 6th September
~ Read a book with a Dad in it
Spring, Wattle Day 1st September, national flower of Australia, lots of different kinds from ground covers to trees.
~ Read a book with a yellow cover or flowers on the cover
