I can't fathom why we don't have a thread for him.

Post away and I'll join in later:)

Finny (angeldance5) | 23 comments I love Terry Pratchett, especially the Death and Moist von Lipwig miniseries (Thief of Time will be read soon) Also loved The Truth, Monstrous Regiment and Strata :)

FebruaryStars | 22 comments I think part of the appeal for me is he is a brilliant world builder. He has constructed Discworld in so much depth and detail. I have been reading The Compleat Ankh Morpork and it's an interesting book to dip into now and again.

Becky McWilliams Guinness (billiesue) I've just started re-reading The Colour of Magic (Discworld, #1) by Terry Pratchett because I've no idea where I'm up to in the series so I'm starting again! I bought Nanny Ogg's Cookbook A Useful and Improving Almanack of Information Including Astonishing Recipes from Terry Pratchett's Discworld by Terry Pratchett last week and it's highly amusing!

Anyone else feel like reading the disc world series again?

I was thinking of starting the Watch books - I found my copy of Guards! Guards! (Discworld, #8) by Terry Pratchett Guards! Guards!

[I happened to go on facebook a couple of minutes after they announced Sir Terry Pratchett's death. I admit it made me cry. I lived so close to him for so many years but I never got to meet him and when he announced his Alzheimer's I felt gutted - my Papa died from Alzheimer's and it is such an awful disease. I wish the world was more aware that it doesn't just affect memory.]

I had a cry as well, his writing was so important to a lot of people including me. I don't have all of the books but I might try to read the ones I've got in order and then collect the rest at some point.
I was trying to change the picture for here to one of his quotes but can't do it?

I have no idea how I created the profile photo when I made the group. It was the only photo I could find quickly that I'd taken which would be vaguely fitting;) Is it the quote I made for my facebook profile pic? (Just found it in the photo album) I had to download an app on my phone and take a close up photo so it was just black and then type it. All the other quotes were rectangular landscape and couldn't be cropped to fit my profile - fun lol. I'll have a search and see if I can figure out how to do it:)

I read The Colour of Magic about two years now, but I've never had the time/opportunity to continue the series. I read Good Omens more recently, and that reminded me how much I like Terry Pratchett's writing. I think I'll re-read The Colour of Magic once I finish my current book, and then hopefully I'll finally continue the series from there.

Very sad news. I had a little cry and felt quite depressed for a while. Alzheimer's is a terrible thing.
