So I was wondering what book to read today while waiting for the pending . (I know they say the 150,000 ton rock is going to miss us by 17,000 miles, but do you really believe everything they say?)

I suppose Niven/ & Pournelle's Lucifer's Hammer is the most prominent, though that involves a comet, not an asteroid. (Hot fudge sundae comes on Monday.)

Clarke's The Hammer Of God has a similar theme, though it's set further in the future.

And Benford's Shiva Descending is another entry in the sub-sub-genre.

Or I could just watch When Worlds Collide.
