It's so difficult. Right at the beginning, I don't really like anyone, but after 30 seconds, I like them all, but there are two that make me want to lick my computer, so I guess those will be the ones.

Karen and Josh, thanks for the response on playlists. I did a search and was able to find itunes playlists for Dead Run, The Dark Tide, Fair Game, and His for the Holidays. Lots of good songs on there and some I don't know... will have to check them out.

Hey, this was cool. I didn't think I'd have time to vote, but I found some time to listen this morning. And, surprisingly, I found it very easy to decide--on three. Picking ONE, now that would (will) be a problem!

Did I read somewhere you were interested hearing our reasons for choosing? Perhaps after the voting? Or in the email? Or maybe that was just in my imagination.

Well, I certainly don't *mind* hearing anyone's reasons. I didn't expect people to go to any trouble though. Getting folks to listen and vote is probably enough of a task!

I listened to them several times before voting. :) I take may audio seriously!

I voted for only one. Reasons - a couple read too fast, almost stumbling over the words. Another wasn't completely accurate - having heard several people read the same words, I recognised an added word in the phrase "It's not bad" (he said "it's not that bad", picking up "that" from the next sentence). That just won't do!!

The one I chose gave that phrase what (I think is) the right inflection.

I give myself kudos for coming up with this idea because you're all so wonderfully diligent. My head literally starts to spin after awhile.

Plus, I can't help mentally rewriting the scene as I listen. I start out listening to the voice and then pretty soon I'm thinking, "No! Why did I write THAT? Why didn't I write..."

You should tell your inner control freak to be grateful that at least you decided upon the narrators from whom the readers can choose. A author friend with a mainstream UK publisher has just discovered her book is now on Audible without anyone telling her, never mind consulting.

I just spent a happy half hour (and too much money) on Audible after Josh mentioned that his books are "on sale" there. Sadly, they're not reduced in the UK, but 500 other books are... But what I found odd was that some of the Bill Bryson books which he has narrated himself have been re-recorded by someone else and are available on Audible. I doubt if that's something he would have agreed to. Must be all about rights!

I once had to park the car and listen for a bit by the side of the road, as I was laughing so hard at Bill's stories about bears that it would have been dangerous to continue driving.)

I love Bill Bryson! I remember the bears passage you are talking about, too. I would love to have the books he narrated himself. I bet it's a difference of American vs UK publishing rights.

I have just finished the audiobook for The Darkling Thrush, my first audiobook. I've listened to it while exercising and it helped me not feel the pain :) I liked the narrator, he had such a range of voices. He was a bit too breezy sometimes, but I think he was good in the rendition of Colin's age. I loved his Irannia Briggs!

The same narrator did Ghost Wore Yellow Socks and he was great there, too. I liked that narration even better than Thrush.

Yes! I loved Max Miller's narration of that book. I thought he caught Colin's wry, sometimes sarcastic voice perfectly. And all the minor characters were so fun!

Tonight I'm going to start the audiobook of Fatal Shadows. Can't wait :)
