What we're listening to

It's fascinating. I wonder what the time frame is though?"
That's what I thought about, too, because BRB always seems to pop up first, regardless which of your books I put into the search box. But it's lots of fun to play with it. :D

I would notice. I've watched enough BBC TV and had British and Australian friends, and a fake accent, or at least a badly done one, really grates on my nerves. ..."
Then I'd be amazed if this one didn't!!

wow, such a beautiful voice. Thank you.

I should know this - were we told JX's full name? Am I dreaming, or is his second name Xavier?

(view spoiler) (This is my first time doing a spoiler tag... hope it works... )
:-) I really love this series and can't wait for the next book.
ETA: I don't have the audio book yet... something else I'm looking forward to enjoying one of these days.

[spoilers removed] (This is my first time doing a spoiler tag... hope it works... )..."
Thanks! Your spoiler tag did work. I wasn't sure if I was remembering it or if it was the first name I thought of beginning with X.

Xavier indeed. I was thinking strict Catholic background. :-) I'd forgotten what a PIA it would be to type that.

Truly.

Ah, now we know why he goes by JX instead... Yes, when I see the name Xavier I think Jesuits and Catholic background.

Just finished listening to Lone Star and that made me want to re-watch Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake, but I can't find my copy of the mid-1990s version. Might have loaned it to my niece... Hmmm, time for an IM. : )

Don't you just love when that happens? When a book inspires you to re-watch something you haven't seen for a while or makes you want to listen to the music you have almost forgotten ever existed? :)
Re-reading (listening to) CUTYS aroused a strong longing in me to read poetry. I've found myself going through the bookselves fetching for my favourite poetry books for a few days now. Likewise some books trigger an intense want in me to sketch and to paint.
Some time ago, when I was tired and not well, all this rarely happened. I think that it definitely has something to do with the relaxation factor and with the stress level... like when you are more at ease, more painfree and worryfree, your senses are somehow more receptive, more open. When you don't have to put all your strength into surviving every day, every moment, you simply are able to let your mind wonder ocassionally. You have time to absorb things around you. I certainly find myself enjoying things differently, more fully than I have been enjoying for years. The little things that I let myself do these days -- just for FUN, not because they MUST be done -- make me extremely happy. Like re-watching the ballet CD after reading an intriguing book that has a handsome ballet dancer in it... ;)

I was listening to first wave on Sirius today while I cleaned and danced. The puppy looked so embarrassed at fourteen months she thinks she too cool for me.

LOL. Cleaning and dancing is a smashing combination... ;-)
Oh, this makes me think of hubby's bad habit to sing (loudly!) in the shower. Last weekend he almost drove me CRAZY by singing Summertime a hundred times in a row in the sauna.

Today I've been listening to Tom Waits' first album Closing Time (1973) which Lady*M recommended on the H&M playlists topic. The whole album is wonderfully soothing. Really lovely...
... to me anyway. For some reason hubby seems to find it irritating. I can't figure why, though. He does like music that sounds a lot like it. Huh. Taste in music is a strange thing...
... maybe it just depends on the mood and the moment? Sometimes when I come home from work and the day has been busy and the students lively, I can't bare to listen to some of the "harder" music I normally enjoy without any problems.

Okay-dokay. I shouldn't have written anything about hubby disdaining Tom Waits and Closing Time. Right now he is listening to the Waits' Rain Dogs album (1985) on his own. The Downtown Train has been playing a few times in the row already... ;-)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up here in Hamburg it's more modest (10°C), but I'm going home for the weekend and there's supposed to be 21°C on Sunday :-D Yeeha!! I wonder if people will look at me strangely if I prance around in ultrashort stuff. Living in the north makes me behave like English teenagers, seriously...

What, what? Isn't that perfectly normal? I do this too. :) Actually I've been known to have one album on repeat the whole day... ;)

I've been totally surprised by this! Only two days ago I walked around in my warm winter coat.

ETA: Well, alright. I guess one ALBUM playing whole day long is ok, but to listen to ONE SONG repeatedly again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again...

Now, see, there's the difference. Hubby never gets fed up with the songs he is listening to (or singing) over and over again.
To his defense I have to say that he has learned to use headphones lately. Although that doesn't help the singing part... ;-) Hmm... Maybe a gag?

What do you think about this song? Is it annoying enough?

Ha! My daughter asked why I was listening to that song. She made me listen to the Duck Songs. Gah.

Yep. I pretty much do that to any new album I really like. I want to absorb it. You have to hear music a few times to really get it all.

Me too. I look up the lyrics and sing along. I play one track over and over. BUT I do all this in private! I'll put a song on repeat in my car and listen 10 times straight.
I always thought everyone did this... :)
