Hah! What a killer combination the Gummy Bear Song and the Duck Songs make! Quite a weapon!

Hey! Hubby really appreciated the extra loooong English version, too. And yes, he spluttered, too. (Didn't jump out the window though...)

Yes. This is very true. Seriously.
Yes. This is very true. Seriously.

Oh yes, that reminds me... My lovely husband (by the way, usually the stereotypical metalhead) has lately discovered the "epic rap battles of history" (I don't know if you know those, but there are a few that are really amazingly well done - these guys do put a lot of research into this...), never mind that he usually can't stand rap. So what happens is, that he not only listens to these videos loudly ALL DAY LONG, no, he comes into my room every now and then TO RAP ALONG. Quite badly, too. Seriously, I wonder if aliens have control over his body or something.

Okay. Here is what we'll do: we'll set up a peer group (yes, you read correctly not a beer group, but a peer group) to comfort each other. ;-)

LOL, if Belgian fruit beers are included, I'd be totally up for a beer group!
Hey, if I happen to make it to the UK meet, we can all comfort each other there ;D

But I'm appreciating Kevin R Free's performance in Somebody Killed His Editor and All She Wrote more than ever - his ability to use completely different voices for each character is really unusually good. He does it without slowing down the narrative, either.

I agree. I especially appreciated Kevin R. Free's Satan Krass. That combined to Josh's witty dialog... the result was absolutely hilarious!!!

Damn, that's no good :-(
Have you gone to a doctor about this? Maybe he/she could give you a splint or something like that to keep it steady. And they have pretty awesome salves you can put on sore limbs (could be merely placebo, of course, but as long as it works, who cares, HOW it works, right? ;-D). Hope it'll get better soon, this really sucks :-(

I've used salve (twice a day) that is surprisingly good and really helps. The problem is that I haven't really stopped using the hand. So that's something I'm going to have take care of... like... right now.

Have you ever tried homeopathic remedies? I'd suggest:
Arnica if the elbow feels sore, bruised, and inflamed from injury or overuse. The elbow is aggravated by movement and touch.
Rhus tox when you find it difficult to rest as it causes stiffness. It’s commonly used for tennis elbow that improves with heat and is worst upon waking.
Ruta for tennis elbow that is slow to heal, and the joint feels achy, weak and stiff.

I was pleased to see when I looked it up that the three remedies I'd thought of were the ones which were suggested!

What I think is unique about Kevin is it's so hard to do comedy. But his reading is so funny and so natural.

I've been looking for scars on his head - maybe hidden implants?
I think I might have to watch some sci-fi films to prepare for the ensuing battles... nothing better to paint a realistic picture than special-effect-amplified Hollywood films.

He's such a good narrator! I found Somebody killed his editor funny when i read it but his reading added a new dimension to it, just perfect. And i like it when i can differentiate beween characters even when i already know the story which is why i also really enjoy Max Miller especially in The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks.

I'm listening to surprise, surprise Puccini. Our Italian friends visited us this weekend and brought us Puccini CD that has music from Tosca, Manon Lescaut, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, Gianni Schicchi, Turandot ...the whole deal. :-)

I'm not a huge fan of opera, but I do like Puccini. It amuses me when you play an opera "greatest hits" and realise how many melodies you recognise - some of them from TV adverts, and some borrowed for pop songs!

Yep. I'm not an opera specialist either, but the older I get the more I find myself enjoying classical music generally. Has this happened to anybody else? Or am I just feeling particularly old today?

It definitely has happened to me, and you are not old, Johanna, you're just a baby ;) ( at least compared to me)

I think as you get older, you get more open-minded. Or at least until you then reverse yourself and get totally crotchety and close-minded. :-D

But nobody here will ever become close-minded:). Crotchety perhaps, but that is mainly because it is such a fun word.

It does seem to embody a grumpy, lower back pain sort of day. :-D

Me too, and I cry on opera arias, because they are moving (Casta Diva from Norma by Vincenzo Bellini sung Maria Callas) or because they are just so freaking beautiful (). Or both.

Just you wait until you go there in sensible brown shoes and polyester pants, suffering those pesky pains in your lower back, then you won't find it so funny, I bet!

I'm open minded. But I'm also old and crotchety... :p
Thank you for the links, Antonella and Juthi. I'm currently listening to the which has been in so many movies (and everywhere) but I still find it beautiful. I loved it in the Swedish movie Lust och fägring stor (, 1995). And that is a movie I certainly can recommend. It's very powerful and touching at the same time and it left me with the strangest feeling. It's a movie about learning and growing, honesty and lies, truth and dreams.

One of my favorite Händel pieces is the Coronation Anthem, n. 1 (Zadok the Priest):

I just finished listening to Fatal Shadows, and I absolutely adored it. As usual for me with audio books, it took a couple of chapters to get used to Chris' voice and his cadence, but once I did, it was easy to lose myself to his rhythm and interpretation of Jake and Adrien. And he delivered one of my favourite lines perfectly - When Jake and Adrien are outside Bruce's house, and Jake shoves Adrien and Adrien shoves him right back. It was such a throwaway little line in the book, but I always felt that it gave such an insight in Adrien's character and was a precursor to the dynamics of their relationship. Love that line, and love the way Chris delivered it.
I am now happily listening to A Dangerous Thing.
Any word on when we can expect The Hell You Say in audio? Actually, when can we also expect The Death of a Pirate King as well? I don't think I could handle the ending of AE3 without knowing I had the next one there to queue up right away.

Please would you quote the line? I can't bring it to mind!

Of course. It's on page 203 of the MLR paperback of Fatal Shadows.
"No, you're not listening. This is a police investigation. I'm already hanging in the wind conducting an unauthorized surveillance." He gave me a slight shove. "Vamoose."
I shoved back. "Stop pushing me."
Like I said, it's a small, throwaway line, but I feel like it says so much about their dynamic, and it always makes me smile when I read it.

Oh yes! :-) Thank you for pointing this out, Bluesimplicity! That's such a small moment, only a few words, a throwaway line like you said, but so much information and emotion behind it.

Me too, it's was great to listen to their story(still hoping for a sequel ^^;), strangely enough I seem to have difficulties getting into Adrian English audiobooks, even though I loved the books....

LOL, I'm afraid that wouldn't work for my relationship. My husband is obsessed with music - listening and playing. He told me once, he could never be with someone not liking the same style of music he did because it's such a big part of who he is. I'm a bit more flexible there, but it IS brilliant to share the most intense, peaceful and elating moments while listening to music with someone who feels exactly the same way.
