Rene (rlh77) Hi!!! My name is Rene' Hynson. I have been a reader since I could remember. Well my problem is that lately I have not been able to find a book to please me. I like books that keep me in the book the whole time. I may be pushing myself to much but I am very hurt and frustrated about my situation. Can someone please help me and giver some advice on this.

Replicant Rachel me too!!
i can't be interested in anything anymore, i haven't finished books since a while now and so my recommendations are not getting better, though i try and read but i only get interested in the book for a day only and then the next day i feel like it's a waste of my time, sorry i can't really help you on this since i'm in the same situation, i guess you just can try recommendations from goodreads and friends and try on different genres maybe...

Isabel | 10 comments "The name of the wind" is a great book, and is very adictive, you should try it.

Stacy I was in a similar place until recently. I hooked into Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ for recommendations. Anything in particular you're in the mood for? I highly recommend The Language of Flowers and The Fault in Our Stars if you're looking for fiction.

Brittany Perry | 229 comments I just can't find a book I am dying to read. So I am trying Delirium. Has anyone read it.

Buffy (buffybarber) I can't imagine a world where this problem exists. I spend a lot of time at the library (and I'm lucky to have access to several good ones as I live in a big city) and I've found some gems just by browsing the shelves. My favourite library has Quick Choice shelves dotted around the building and I've been able to find some really good books just from those.

I don't have any recommendations for you as taste in books is subjective, but I hope that you find something that you like soon. What I would suggest is that you give something a try that you wouldn't normally read as it's natural to stick within the bounds of what we're comfortable with. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

Good luck!

R.M.F. Brown There's so much choice these days, it's hard not to find a good book, but sometimes too much choice can be overwhelming.

Mia | 49 comments honestly if I can't find a book to suit my needs I read the cheesiest romance novel I can find. they never disappoint and they always end happily:) But if your not a cheesy romance kind of person... I recommend Dolores Claiborne by Stephen king, its impossible to put down and an intense page turner.

What genera of books are of interest to you?

message 11: by Emily (new)

Emily Whatever you do don't force yourself to read a book, because most likely you wouldn't like the book as much.

Maybe try reading some novellas or short stories for awhile. They aren't as long and maybe it will get back in the mood to read.

Have you tried revisiting books you've already read and loved? When I get in that funk that's what I do and by the time I finish my favorite book or series I'm out of my funk and ready to find new treasures. Otherwise I've had luck just going to my local library/bookstore and browsing the shelves til I find something that catches my interest. Have you read Eragon by Christopher Paloini? Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling? Redwall by Brian Jacques? Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck? Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder by Joanne Fluke? Fablehaven by Brandon Mull? Hope you find something to help you with your funk.

message 14: by Ruth (new)

Ruth My remedy for that is go to the library of a place with a bookshelf full of books you haven't read and run your finger along the spines of the books without looking and stop randomly. Read the book your finger lands on. Ok, sometimes the book is crap but sometimes you discover a really amazing book and author.

Robert Spake (ManofYesterday) | 61 comments Check out William Somerset Maughm. Amazing writing.

I agree with those who suggested you try experimenting, either by reading in a genre you normally wouldn't or a different format like short stories. You might just need to take a break from reading though, there's no sense doing something if you aren't getting any enjoyment out of it.

I'm feeling the same way right now. I had a 4 book streak of great reads, and now... I have no idea what to read next.

Narrow it down by setting, then genre. Then, look for book rating on GoodReads or B&N-- or any website with feedback regarding the book you (May be) interested in.

I Just read one called "Easy" by Tammara Webber. I was surprised that it actually turned out being one of my favorite books yet! Once you read one, you'll look for another-- and another. lol Good luck!

One good book is Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children it is a little slow at first but I was really hooked after chapter 1

Kirsten Habegger (madhatter2713) that has happened to me a lot. I used to adore classic literature and it was all I would read then I just couldn't get into it so I tried a new genre. every time I get a reader's block I'll read a book in a completely different genre and it fixes it!

message 19: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Hargraves | 94 comments I usually switch genres when that happens. For a while all that was being pitched by publishers was the intense "Oprah" touted novels. Now it seems there is an abundance of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Supernatural, and of course everything is either a trilogy or series.
