Bill (kernos) | 2988 comments Mod
I just finished book 1 of Storm Constantine's Grigori trilogy Stalking Tender Prey and wrote a short review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... It is an amazing work and my respect for Storm continues to grow. It has some Gay influence, but only as a part of a much greater story.

I'm now doing a quick re-reading of The City and the Stars by Arthur C. Clarke

This is my favorite of the series so far.

This is the first Holleran I've read and I agree, the writing is excellent. His descriptions are so vivid and, as you said, very brutal.

I happened to be listening to Jeff Buckley's "I Know It's Over" while reading the ending, which turned out to be both apropos and a lethal combination -- I was nearly reduced to tears on the subway.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I should say anything before, but I thought you might have put Cut Hand down before because it's kind of terrible...

Sometimes I don't mind unusual words in a story and having to look them up. Other times, it just seems the author is trying too hard.

It was decades ago for me too. I remember my brother giving me the book to read shortly after he came out and me hoping that his life will be a lot happier. There were a lot of sad and tragic stories in those days.

Julia | 271 comments I am reading and loving I Am Not Myself These Days A Memoir by Josh Kilmer-Purcell . It's my fourth book by Josh Kilmer-Purcell, who is now my fulltime neighbor. (And millionaire: he and his partner of ten or so years won The Amazing Race last season.) I am reading it as part of a challenge on another list to read a local writer, but also that it be YA...

I suppose there are some young adults who might like it and for whom it may be appropriate...

This is on my to-buy list, but some of the reviews have prevented me from buying. I'm looking forward to your thoughts.

Very interesting titles, Columbus. I haven't read anything about gay life in Puerto Rico. The only book I read by Benjamin Alire Sáenz was Last Night I Sang to the Monster. Ghana Must Go looks really interesting too.

Now I can't decide what to read next. I wish there were a magic way to figure out which of the numerous unread books lying around my apartment will turn out to be awesome...
