Aleksandr Voinov (vashtan) I'm thinking of sending Skybound on its way to whoever wants it. The positive thing: it's tiny and light. :)

Any takers?

That's lovely, Aleks. I'm sure there'll be plenty of takers!

I'm looking forward to buying my own copy from you in Manchester, though. If you'll have them with you, that is. :-)

Aleksandr Voinov (vashtan) Oh, I'm taking a box of books along. As many as I can carry from South-East London to Manchester (lots of changes and switches). :)

I have to second that, a great little story, and so well researched. Definitely a must read.

Yup, As Meat Loves Salt is definitely not a beach read! But well written and heart wrenching for sure. Well worth the read. I read almost half the book before taking a break that lasted nearly a year. So glad I got back into it to finish it.

I love the idea of traveling books. Not sure I have anything to travel, but when I get home next weekend, I can glance through my shelves. I'm afraid I might only be willing to give up the books I didn't enjoy. I don't like to let good books out of my sight! Lol.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who needed a break while reading As Meat Loves Salt. And just like you, I'm very happy that I didn't give up completely!!!

I think I might have offered this for traveling before, but I could send my Shattered Glass by Dani Alexander for a journey. I liked that one. So, if anyone is interested, let me know. I've already painted a bookmark with a picture of bunny slippers to go with it. ;-)

Oh, I almost wish I hadn't read this just so I could put myself on the traveling book list for it. Wonderful writing indeed... if anyone hasn't read it, get to it now or put yourself on the traveling list to receive it. :-)

Hi Joe! I hope your writing is going well.

Are you still interested in reading The General and the Horse-Lord? KC is also on our North America list, but she is moving at the end of the month and doesn't need it until later in July. Please let me know and I'll be happy to send it along!

Don't worry about it, Juthi. If it looks that you don't have enough time to draw in it and to send it back to Europe before the Manchester Meet (because that's only three weeks away) , we can always start another notebook in Manchester if we like. :-)

I (Finland) and Caroline (UK) are next in the list, but... I suggest that everyone who wants to read it and lives in North America, gets it first. That way we don't need to send it constantly across the ocean. :-) So, who wants to read it after Joe? It sounds like a very good book!

Tina (bought it)
1. Juthi
2. Marge
3. Joe (current location)

?

4. Johanna (Finland)
5. Caroline (UK)

Juthi has been very kind to arrange with her superpowers (and the express international postal service) that our Traveling Notebook will be waiting us in the Manchester hotel when we'll arrive to the Meet. Thank you so much, Juthi! You are a sweetheart!

Anyway, the plan is to have as many people as possible to write a little something in the notebook in Manchester. After that it'll continue to travel from a group member to another and will finally be send to Josh sometime later on.

If you are attending the UK Meet and if you want to write/draw/print something beforehand and then add (glue, tape...) it into the notebook in Manchester, that's possible, too. Our book is a plain Moleskine notebook (size 21 cm x 13 cm).

I was planning to tell you about this little pub my daughter took us to in Edinburgh ( you are still going there?) It is called The Royal Oak, sits near Cannongate in the Old Town and is a small pub with live music every night. Mostly locals and there is always a mix of young and old, and everybody can sing along. When we were there, this very old man sang an old song about a lady who fell in love with a gypsy. After a couple of verses the other guests started harmonising on the chorus with its folderol foldera, and he sang and he played and danced the night away. :)

That sounds wonderful. :-) I just wrote the pub's name and location in my own notebook that always travels with me. ;-) And yes, we are leaving for Edinburgh on Monday morning (in the same train with Antonella!) and we'll stay in Edinburgh (and in its surroundings) until Friday. Are you at home in Norway already?

I am at home, my trip was only for five days, but that was five very nice and fun days, showing my son the town since he hadn't been before, travelling by train to a small coastal town one day, wrecking a car (!) long story, but a piece of advice; if you rent a car and drive on the wrong side of the road, use an automatic! Thank gods and godesses for insurance! No people were hurt, only machinery, and we made the aquaintance of the world's happiest tow truck driver :)And the graduation ceremony was very solemn and so full of pomp and circumstance as only the British (and Scottish) are able to do. And several good meals and fancy drinks too. Happy days!

Another advice, pack a warm jacket, even in summer the wind is always blowing, so it can get rather chilly there. Enjoy your stay and your trip, with Antonella no less, that sounds extra lovely.

I am of course not the slightest bit jealous of all of you and your meet up, that would be SO beneath me!

Oops. Wrecking a car, huh? Thank goodness nobody got hurt! We've decided not to rent a car after all during this trip. We'll just stay in Edinburgh and its surroundings. Next time we'll make sure we'll have enough time to drive around Scotland in no hurry.

Another oops. I did take my jeans jacket with me -- I hope that's enough. Last summer in California it was extremely hot and I didn't have a jacket with me. When we arrived in San Fransisco I was forced to go jacket shopping -- otherwise I would have freezed to death. Wow, that wind was something else!

Sounds like you had a wonderful time in Edinburgh with your children, Anne!

I remember San Francisco being windy, but it was winter and it was still much more pleasant than Arizona where we visited just before. It's funny how the weather feels so different, coming from -10-20C in Canada where i'm fine, in Arizona i'm always freezing at around 5C with more or less the same coat.
Hopefully the jacket will be warm enough for Edinburgh; keep us posted and have lots of fun! :)
