Haldis I totally get your idea of sending one notebook traveling around Europe and another one cruising in US. We've tried to sort the list every once in a while so that the Notebook wouldn't constantly have to cross oceans. I think the question we're currently trying to solve is how to arrange that as many of us as possible would see what everyone else has added to the Notebook. ;-)

I forgot to say this earlier, but I DO have faith in New Zealand's postal services. :-)

Excellent! I'm glad someone does! ;)

Hey! The Traveling Notebook won't be at the UK Meet this year. It's currently at Carli's (I think) in US.
ETA: Unless you guys want us to start a new notebook at the Meet? We can totally do that.

You've had so tough time lately that it's totally understandable that you haven't had time for this, Carlita.

I'm so sorry, Haldis -- thank you for pointing that out. It seems I didn't copy+paste the latest list, but the one before that. Sorry about that!

Steve wrote: "Is it a physical book that is mailed from person to person? Where do I add my address?"
Yes, it's a physical Moleskine notebook that is mailed from person to person. You don't need to add your address anywhere yet, but when the time comes Haldis will contact you and ask your address.
You can add anything you desire on its pages: stories, doodles, recipes, photos... anything. In the end it'll find a permanent home with Josh (where it has visited once already -- there is a heartwarming page and a delightful surprise from Josh inside the notebook).

In the future we might want to add a "rule" for how long the Traveling Notebook stays in one place (I know it stayed with me at some point waaaay toooo loooong).
Would it be unreasonable to ask that it wouldn't stay in one place more than a month? That way all the group members who are in the waiting list would get their hands on it eventually. AND Josh would get to see it again eventually.

Fine by me!
Timeline makes sense. When I had it, I was planning not to keep it more than a week or two, but then brought it to England with me. I wanted to enjoy it, but get it moving again quickly least I never let it go. :-)

Thank you, Carlita.
Thank you, Carlita.
Update about our Traveling Notebook's journey. The Notebook is traveling next to Karen and then to Felice. I've been in contact with both of these lovely ladies. :-)
Here's the list we have for its future travels:
Carlita (US)
Karen (US)
Felice (US)
Jordan (US)
Alison (New Zealand)
Sabine (Germany)
Varecia (Germany)
Calathea (Germany)
Hambel (UK)
Idamus (Denmark)

To make sure that it eventually gets back to Josh (to stay) let's add a rule to this game. :-) We've pretty much agreed that we're going to have to set a time limit for how long our Traveling Notebook can stay in one place. As of the time limit I think one month would be a fair time. And if you can send it on its way even faster, that's wonderful!
If you guys start planning beforehand what do you want to add on its pages, that will speed up our process. Also, if it's a bad time for you to receive the Notebook we can always move your name further in the list that way you'll get the Notebook later on.
For those who want to prepare something beforehand, here's some information about our Notebook:
- it's a classic Moleskine notebook with blank pages
- page size 21 cm x 13 cm (about 8 in x 5 in)
Aaaand if any of you have time or possibility to scan/photograph the pages that have been filled already, that would be most kind. That way if the Notebook ever gets lost, we'll at least have the scanned version left. I'd do this, but I don't think the Notebook will visit me anymore before returning to its home, Chez Lanyon.

I'm thinking of adding my spaghetti sauce recipe that's supposed to be authentic Italian. It's my favorite food. Ever. :-)
This might be good practice for me with the scanner at work that I've never used. I can certainly try to scan it when it gets back to me if you'd like. Though I might need a reminder when my time comes.

I really hope we can get some of this wonderful stuff online to see. Securely, of course!

Yes, we can try to make the online thing happen sometime later on.
And as for the things we all add in the Notebook I love, love, LOVE the diversity of the greetings. The Notebook looks exactly like us! All that cosy diversity, totally in sync. :-)

Ditto!
Not so sure about a digital version though.

Carlita wrote: "I'm so glad to know you have it, Karen. I was concerned because it was sent last Saturday morning, overnight delivery through Fed-Ex. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did."
It was a little weird because it arrived USPS priority needing a signature. I received one notice on my door on Tuesday, then a "final notice" in the mailbox on Wednesday. So I went online to request redelivery, and left a signed notice on the door and the other in the mailbox covering all bases and safely arrived!

I have this image of several fingers being crossed all around the world every time our Traveling Notebook starts its journey to the next waypoint. :-D

The traveling notebook took a road trip with me to Tucson yesterday and was sent off today to Felice in Brooklyn (USPS 2-day express). It should arrive on Saturday. : )
Hey all, I've got a book to add to the traveling books, should anyone want it. I somehow ordered this by mistake. It's an omnibus edition of Tony Hillerman's The Leaphorn and Chee novels (Navajo mysteries), including Skinwalkers, A Thief of Time, and Coyote Waits. They are books 7, 8, and 10 in the series. This is mostly a duplicate of an older omnibus edition I'd also ordered. I'm so confused as to how I ordered both. Lol. Anyway, it's a used hardcover published in 2005 in very good condition. I will ship for free to anywhere anyone might want it. Just let me know.
I'm planning to start this series over the summer, and I'm wicked excited about it!

I read A Thief of Timeand Skinwalkers many years ago and I remember quite liking them.
