Her other books are much more graphically disturbing. I would characterize both Dark Places and Sharp Objects are thrillers/horror. They are both fast paced and exciting.

Loooved Gone Girl myself and got Sharp Objects and Dark Places but haven't started them yet (in the middle of another book). Can't wait to read them though.

I enjoyed Dark Places & Gone Girl but found Sharp Objects (her first book I think) to be a bit predictable. Still enjoyed it and easy to read

Dark Places is the only one I haven't read but I can tell you that Sharp Objects is awesome and is what led me to Gone Girl. She's a beautiful writer and a fantastic storyteller.

Yeah I've had trouble finishing Dark Places, but I loved Sharp Objects... I just don't like the main character in Dark Places at all...
