message 103: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) Hey. I'm new to this group so I thought I would introduce myself.

I read constantly. If I am not reading, well, I am usually on the computer looking for new things to read lol. No matter how big my TBR pile is getting.

Here goes the list of favorites: J.R. Ward, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Charlaine Harris, Karen Chance, Jeanine Frost, Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, Melissa De La Cruz, Cassandra Clare, Kelly Armstrong, Jenifer Rardin, L.J. Smith, and the list continues.

As far as my favorite place to read goes, I have a little green chair in my room that I swear my butt is glued to. Lol.

I have a dog named Chip. I know original. He is an indoor dog, and he likes to sleep on my head. Quite annoying.

Wide list of hobbies as well, but I wont go into detail about all that here.

message 105: by Christie (last edited Jun 26, 2009 02:30AM) (new)

Christie (cibarra) Hi! I'm Christie.

My favorite series is the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

My favorite place to read is my living room after the kids are in bed. I love to curl up on the couch with a book and a cup of tea or a glass of wine depending on the day I had.

My hobbies besides reading are yoga, pilates, cooking, and photography. I also love to travel but it's been difficult since we had children. Hoping we'll be able to travel more when my 2 year old is a little older.

Something unique about me? I'm a military wife so we move around often. We've spent the last 5+ years living in Germany. We'll be moving to Louisiana in a few weeks. I grew up in Virginia but have lived in Washington DC, Maryland, Alaska, Tennessee and Germany during the last 10 years. My husband and I have spent at least half of our marriage apart. As much as I hate being away from him I think it has made us a stronger couple.

message 109: by Ariana (new)

Ariana (CarpeCorpus) | 4 comments Hey I'm Ardo
But I also go by Ariana (Strange I know)

I love to read, (obviously) write and occasionally have my thoughts deviated towards world domination (Don't worry. I'm still in the rough draft stage)

I don't buy books unless they are really really good. So majority of the time I get it from the library.
And if i'm given a book that isn't good then I can't finish it.(I usually give it three chapters to impress me)

Last but not least I will like to confess that I am a bookaholic (Oddly enough more with books to do with the supernatural). I read on average five books a week. Sometimes less sometimes more. In fact I once read so many books right after the other that I actually got a headache so bad that I couldn't read for a week. I kid you not.

Nona (goodreadscomnona) Hello, name is Nona of course. In high school I read alot of Anne Rice & Stephen King etc. however over the last several years I've read nothing but historical fiction and am looking into getting back into the supernatural/vampire/werewolves etc. I did read Twilight series at my neices suggestion and while the first was a good book the other three fell short in my opinion.

on a personal note I'm 25, married five years to a wonderful man, I have two step childern in their teens and two childern under five. Two crazy felines that don't know their felines and one has a foot fetish, lol. I love and collect books mostly I have hisorical fiction but I of course have all of Rices Vampire books and a few of Stephen Kings that I adore right beside my classics like Jane Austen, lol.

Jessica | 66 comments I'm Jessica, wife & mother of 2 great boys. My oldest was recently diagnosed with Asperger's and I live with adult onset depression.

That said, I love to read. I don't just read, I devour. My husband teases me about how fast I read. Says we'd save a fortune if I just read slower :D

Urban Fantasy is by far my favorite genre, but I also enjoy mystery, romance (especially paranormal romance) & fantasy.

Heather (heatherjoy) Hi All! I'm Heather, 24, self professed book nerd. *waves nerd flag*
I love all types of books, but I have a special place in my heart for supernatural elements, Urban Fantasy especially. There is just something sinister and sensuous and just delicious about a supernatural element. It spices up any plot if done well and can sometimes salvage those that aren't. I'm pleased to see I've read most of the selections you all have chosen thus far and am excited to jump into your future picks!

message 122: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 22 comments Hi. I'm Tiffany. I work online doing medical transcription and during the fall and winter, I work conventions. I moved out to Vegas from Northeast Ohio last year and one of the things I miss most is the library from there! The ones out here aren't nearly as good!

My favorite authors are Kelley Armstrong, Stephen King, Patricia Briggs, Charlene Harris, T.A. Pratt, and many more. My favorite place to read would be in bed.

I have way too many hobbies, I think! I like to cross stitch (currently working on baby blanket for a friend), latch hook (working on wolf rug for self)and I also breed and raise reptiles. I have leopard geckos, bearded dragons and albino red eared sliders. Just to take care of all the reptiles, it takes about 3 hours if I do it by myself, but I usually have help. Thank goodness. :) So, if anyone is thinking about getting a reptile, hit me up! LOL

message 123: by [deleted user] (new)

Vivian Dominguez (pnraddict) | 1 comments Hi fellow addicts.....!!! My name is Vivian and I became an official PNR addict Dec'08...it all started with "Twilight" so I would have to say it's one of my top favorites...since the series got me into this mess in the first place....LOL!!! I haven't been able to STOP...and I'm not planning to neither...I feel like a lil' teeny bopper...LOL...finding myself jumping up and down when I see the NEW MOON trailer or when I see a new YA or any Paranormal Romance series coming out...yes..I obsess over books that have sequels...1 isn't enough..I need closure for some reason...LOL..I'm open for any suggestions of PNR books that I haven't read yet....check out my list....and I need friends...so please request me....

Well my favorite place to read is.....pretty much EVERYWHERE!!!!!...yeah I know.... I need help...LOL..lately I've found myself reading at red lights or sitting in traffic ....what can I say I'm addicted...Sssshhhh..I'm still a very good driver.... :)

Hobbies????? Mmmmmmm....between reading and my 4yr. old daughter (Destiny) and giving some luv to my other big Baby...I pretty much don't have time for anything these days...but I do obsess over music....I'm always online downloading and watching the most recent videos, plugging my Ipod @ work, blasting the radio in the car (of course when I'm not reading), dancing even when I'm cleaning....LOL...and when I say I luv music I luv it all...being Latina might have something to do with it...I don't know!!!!

Something unique about me.....mmmm!?!?!? I always wanted to be an interior designer since I can't remember but ended up taking another route...Accounting..(I know....I luv it what can I say!!!!!)but for some odd reason it always feels like trading spaces in my house...1 day u come into my home and 3 months later u might walk in and feel like u walked into the wrong place...I luv decorating and changing stuff around and buying funky stuff to match any crazy rooms I'm making over.....LOL.....

Happy Reading..

message 126: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 22 comments I'm in North Las Vegas. It's about 10 minutes from the strip with no traffic and about 1/2 hour from the strip when there is traffic. :P

Beardies are the lizard that got me into reptiles. I saw one at the petstore and they were so cute. I got one from an online breeder (since I have had bad experiences with petstores) and now I have to say I have two additions-reptiles and books. LOL. My boyfriend is always like "another book?!?" or "another lizard?!?"

I think that Latch Hook is actually a lot easier than cross stitch. I seem to finish them a lot faster too. I still have the huge rug that I made for my parents sitting waiting to be finished though. I ran out of the one color and couldn't find a match since that company went out of business. I did find a similar kit of it and it did have the same color though, so I'm going to finish it soon and give it to them for x-mas.

I think I love x-stitch and LH so much because I'm a perfectionist. Every thing is so uniform and clean in both LH and x-stitch.

Melodie (melodieco) Tiffany wrote: I think I love x-stitch and LH so much because I'm a perfectionist. Every thing is so uniform and clean in both LH and x-stitch..."

I used to do a lot of x-stitch. Have lost count of all the wedding & birth samplers I made over the years. Haven't done any in a few years because it gives me such a headache, even with my glasses. I have a beautiful latch hook rug sitting upstairs in a box just waiting to be finished off. The hooking is all done, it just needs the finishing details. Has been sitting there for I don't know how long! I think I'll put it on my list of things to get done this fall.

message 128: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany | 22 comments Well, I can only do x-stitch for so long because my eyes do start to hurt from it when I do the counted. When I do the stamped, I could do it all day. When I'm working on one, my dad used to just shake his head at me when he saw me working on them because he said that he just didn't have the patience to work on something that detailed and small, and he's even more of a perfectionist than me!

The LH I was making for my parents I started when I was in middle school and I'm now almost 25, so it's been awhile. It's all wool and about 3' by 6 or 7' from Shillcraft when they were around.

I have LOTS of loved books and authors, but the consistant tops are Terry Pratchett, Jim Butcher, Katherine Kurtz, and Guy Gavriel Kay.

And something about me? I've been a Homelearner my whole life, I love to travel, and I like to write fiction. As a hobby so far, but we'll see what happens!

Cyndi (CNorwood) | 2 comments I was just looking for a new read and stumbled in here. Your title and books look like they match my taste in books. I am currently reading the Poison, Magic and Fire study books. I saw the Demon's Librarian listed above and just ordered it online. My favorite series so far is probably Clare's Mortal Instruments. I read when and wherever I can get a second to myself.
:-)
Up next for me, Storm Glass by Snyder again, then back to Shiver by Stiefvater.

Willow (willowfire) | 9 comments The Dresden books pretty much leaped to the top of my favourites list when I got to the 3rd book and I've been loaning my copies out left, right and center for a few months now. Plus, I as able to get both of my brothers hooked, which is pretty impressive from my point of view!

message 139: by Kelli (new)

Kelli (malachitemoon) Hi. I'm new here. Not to GR, but to all of the groups and message boards. My name is Kelli and I've been told that I read too much, but I don't think that's possible.

My favorite authors are Marion Zimmer Bradley, Charles de Lint, Laurell K Hamilton, Stephen King, and a whole host of others.

I don't have a favorite place to read because I'll do it anywhere at any time. I guess I really do most enjoy reading to my 10 mo. old daughter, Gwendolen. I read her whatever I'm reading and my friends swear that's why she talks as much as she does already!

I don't know if there's anything really unique about me. I'm a Navy wife and my hubby and I are eagerly awaiting the end of his enlistment (just a little over a year to go!). I love moving, so it'll be a little sad to give that up. I've been Pagan for the past 11 years. My hubby and I were handfasted underneath a waterfall the year before we were married. My daughter will probably grow up thinking that her uncle was John Lennon because that's what her room is decorated in and her middle name is "Imagine." I think that counts as unique.

I'm very excited to be a part of this group and can't wait to get to know you all better!

Twisted_Stitch (confabulate-cookie) | 1 comments Hello everyone!
I am fairly new to GR and I am new to the group. I wanted to take the time to introduce myself as well.
My name is Teresa; I am 30 years old, married and a working mother. My hobbies are reading, photography and video games.
My favorite book series are The Kushiel’s Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey and also The Southern Vampire Series by Charlian Harris (I am not a fan of the tv series based on these books). I also am a fan of Laurel K Hamilton and Kim Harrison.
I can pretty much read anywhere and anytime but if I had to pick a favorite place it would either be in bed or on my couch with a cup of coffee or tea and a snack.
At the moment I can’t think of anything particularly unique about me.
I just wanted to say hello and I look forward to talking with you all.

message 146: by Allison (new)

Allison (alimac) Hello. My name is Allison.

Favorite book/series: That's a hard one. I love all books having to do with Vampires. It has been an obsession of mine for about 15 years or so. I don't know if I could pick one particular book or series in that genre.

Favorite place to read: In bed, or outside. Summers in Minnesota are short and tempermental, so when I can get out I try to. Otherwise, I always read before I go to sleep.

Hobbies: I don't know that I have any other than I love to read, watch TV and Movies.

Something unique about myself: I am an extreme extravert. I love to be around people and talk to people and be out in public. Which is interesting because I also love to read, which is a very solitary thing.
