Amber I'm Team Aspen all the way! Aspen was always a lovable character to me, since the very first book. I admit I was a little heartbroken when Aspen broke up with America, especially after being so in love with their relationship. But Aspen never failed to continuously love America, unlike Maxon.

After Aspen and America parted ways, he told her to enter the Selection. I think this was the part that really did it for me. He wanted her to be happy nonetheless. He loved with all of his heart, but knowing he would not be able to provide as a Six, he gave her his best hopes. I'm sorry but this is just too cute.

Maxon is a very interesting character, and I like him as that. But unfortunately the good looks and royalty do deceive because he played around with other girls, practically right in front of America.

Even being promoted to a Two and being much closer to America as a guard, Aspen never stopped loving her. He risked his job that gave him and his family money unimaginable and a high rank to express his feelings towards America. Personally, I think this is such an admirable quality.

Maxon clearly seems to be the favorite because he is "gentlemanly and patient." But it cannot be denied that he did engage in sexual relations with other girls. Does that deem true love to America? I think not. Being prince doesn't make it okay to do whatever he desires with no courtesy of her feelings.

Okay, that may have sounded harsh, and i'm sorry Maxon-lovers. I respect him as a character but go Team Aspen! I know it will likely not work out, because then the whole series will be pointless, but I just really love the two together.

Michelle SO TEAM ASPEN!!!!!!! I'm so pissed at Maxon after reading The Elite! America should just leave the castle!

Katarina I don't know... this question. Well Maxon, eh. Aspen... yeah, yup. TEAM ASPEN!!!

Abigail Team Maxon! He stood up for her and is so kind and sweet. After what Aspen and her now being so distsnt they aren't really too together. They still will be friends though in my opinion

Caitlyn Woods MAXON MAXON MAXON MAXON MAXON MAXON!!!!!!!!!! MAXON ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!! HE IS SO PERFECT!!!!!!

I have always been on team Maxon. Even before i read the book. There was something that annoyed me about Aspen. And even though Maxon did some stupid stuff in all three books, i think his character was wonderful.

Jennie Team Maxon as i was on the first book..noone can change my mind about that...and i will support him with all my heart..America and him are perfect together!! <3

Madison I think Maxon is a jerk like who can actually feel okay when he's basically "in love" with two girls and using ANOTHER one because he's stressed? Like at least America knows what she's doing with Aspen is wrong and at least she has actual feelings for both, Maxon doesn't even like Celeste. And I understand he got caned or whatever but that's no excuse to act like an ass- excuse my language. Im Team Aspen, he shouldn't put her in danger and try to sneak around but at least he's faithful and when he says he loves her he doesn't go sneaking around with two other girls.

Sabrien Abdelrahman I think people support Maxon too fast, jump to him without doubts and no consideration of what he has done or thought of. I think what's between aspen and america is real, but i dont know which team im on. just saying too many people jump towards team maxon, leap towards his side. Just saying, I don't think he's perfect like most people do.

Rachelle I can't believe a lot of people are hating on Aspen. I admit I liked him a lot in the first book even though he dumped her but that was because he didn't couldn't let her marry him into his caste but now that he's a guard he can give her the life she deserves. Even after reading this book, I love their secretive and stolen moments even though it was careless after everything with Marlee but still. I also want to point out I never dislike Maxon, I think he deserves to find love and he's so patient with America to let her think but she doesn't use her time wisely. I wouldn't mind if he ended up with Kris, I was even thinking about that pairing after the end of the first. Honestly The Elite wasn't as good as The Selection and I feel like I don't want America with either guy. Hopefully The One will have a clear winner!

Miriam It does at one point get hard to read, but you get a too perfect happy ending at the end:)

AbigailDenyse01 maxon. no doubt especially since I read the one.

AbigailDenyse01 at the end when ...that thing... happened between maxon and America(the bad thing that involved aspen) I was so happy maxon did that to her. he grew up and spoke 4 what he wanted

AbigailDenyse01 the only people I hate are the king and kota and whoevr shot maxon<--------spoilers 4 peeps who havn't read the one:)

AbigailDenyse01 I hate her too! I 4got her thx 4 reminding me.

Mechila Even though the whole serious was really good, I started to dislike all the characters. I mean I know that America had a tough decision and all with Maxon and Aspen but like seriously girl, it took you that long. And she always seems to mess everything up like gosh just sometimes you need to keep your mouth closed. Aspen bothered me a lot. He comes out as a guard and he's always wondering if she's hanged or not. And then when she comes to him for advice or whatever, he always seems to knock her down. Idk. I just didn't really like him until the third book. Kriss- never liked her. Big surprise about her in the last book even though it wasn't elaborated on. Never like the king. He was just plain mean. The queen bothered me in some ways. I think there are just sometimes where she didn't understand America's choices even though they were the right ones. Celeste is mean. I loved loved loved Marlee. She was just soo sweet. And Maxon... Idk. He just needs to make up his mind. First he likes America, then Kriss, and then Celeste is just his side girl? What? No Maxon. Unacceptable. I understand you debating between Kriss and America but what you did with Celeste, was wrong.

Elizabeth Mckenzie wrote: "Umm I'm team Aspen all the way, I have to admit though that if she does pick Aspen the books would really have no point because then Illea wouldn't change whatsoever and then the King wins and what..."

Maxon does ALOT of good for her and her family, he can provide for them. They will have plenty of food and will be content living in the castle. And also I think that America will make a great queen. even thought she is a little pig headed at times that could become a good quality as queen. although if she doesn't want the crown then she might not be the best pick for the job... I wish she could marry Maxon but not have to wear the crown with all of the strings attached ya know? But, she is good with quick decisions the only issue is that once she makes those decisions she never lets them go which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Well all in all I still want her to be with Maxon.

Briana Team Aspen all the way, no doubts.

message 771: by Briana (last edited Jul 23, 2014 06:40PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Briana I don't know why, I just felt that 2 years of a relationship down the drain after the selection which was only a month. Plus he sounds cute black hair and green eyes ,wow. ;)

Mechila Just because someone has two years of experience, doesn't mean that that person is the one. Stuff like this happens all the time everyday.

message 773: by Briana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Briana I guess I can see your point, they were just so in love I would have hoped they could stay like that but then again there would be no book if this were to happen.I guess what I'm trying to say is that they had such intimate moments ,to see that all gone is very sad to read.

Mechila Yeah I totally understand and agree. When aspen broke up with her I was so upset. And then I guess that's when Maxon comes in. And also, I was always on Gale's side until the last book.

message 775: by Briana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Briana I kind of feel like reading "The Hunger Games" right now.Now that I think of it this book is more like "The Hunger Games" than I ever thought of, the love triangles, competition, and both of the girls (Katniss and America) not really wanting to enter the competition in the first place.Plus the wanting of equal rights and justice in each of their places of their categories. These following reasons are what make both of these books very interesting which is something they also have in common.

Mechila Yeah. When I read it for school, I was like oh it's just like the hunger games but with out the violence.

message 777: by K.B (last edited Jul 28, 2014 06:30AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

✿ K.B ✿ Team Maxon for ever. America feels her self with Maxon and Aspen is just there as a showpiece. Kissing her and hugging and reminding of the old days they spent and telling her he wants her but actually tries nothing to do eventually. Maxon at least loves her for what she is and feels for her more than the other girls. I was irritated with America because she was confused half of the time and fell into many ditches of tears on the way to admitting she wants Maxon anyway.

I agree with you on that one as well. But I was still happy in the end. Because Gale doesn't even exist but the end of the series unlike in the selection series.

message 780: by Briana (last edited Jul 28, 2014 04:01PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Briana Yes they are both alike but still very interesting, my point exactly.

message 781: by Mya (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mya I'm on both really. Maxon is on my nerves sometimes and maybe Aspen but i'm on team Aspen!!! :)
Sad though she ends up with Maxon. :(
But at least Aspen found Lucy!!! :)

message 782: by Mya (new) - rated it 4 stars

Mya I totally agree on your part of having a relationship with another girl, at the same time! Not just one girl but 34! In a way I guess its a part of the Selection and it makes it a bit more mysterious and exciting!

message 783: by Briana (last edited Aug 31, 2014 07:48PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Briana Yeah I'm glad that he at least ended up with someone it's even better that she is Lucy.Though I wish he would have ended up with America.

message 785: by Lynne (last edited Sep 16, 2014 11:25PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lynne Stringer I was still Team Maxon. Aspen doesn't strike me as a good option for America. He didn't seem willing to see her as able to be strong and change things that need changing.

Angelica Cataluña TEAM MAXON my dear!

message 787: by Lonely (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lonely Reader This book is good and I can't find The One, but Team Maxon or team Aspen? I can't really decide, I like Maxon but I also love Aspen and I'm not sure who I like. Anyway... I download my books on EPUB, if anyone has or knows any websites (not torrents) where I can download EPUB'S, please let me know

Lynne Stringer Yes, that was a bad moment. Definitely not something he should have done but I can understand why the temptation might have been a bit much. Still ...

Helen C Aspen sucks

michelle Team Maxon. I never liked Aspen. He's just... Uh... Sorry Team Aspen. TEAM MAXON FOR LIFE!

Anahi TEAM MAXON!

Charlzie i am still team maxon! i really hope she ends up with him

message 796: by Majo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Majo MAXON! aspen is such a jerk. Maxon truly loves America. And even thought Aspen maybe loves America, he's not good for her. I hate him. He's stupid, and selfish. I neeeeeed America to end up with Maxon. If it doesn't turn out that way I0'm going to cry! :(

Musicgurl8192 Team Maxon! I've always been rooting for him since book 1, but I still wavered (not between him and Aspen, just if I liked him as a Character or not), but The Elite.. well it just made me sure, and love him more. Of course, there were moments I felt like crying, dying and the ultimate betrayel. But in the midst of all that I saw not this perfect, understanding, gentlemanly Prince,I saw a guy full of pain and loneliness and sadness. He wasn't perfect. Yeah, he did ''things'' with Celeste. Which honestly is a huge turn off most times, but he was always TOO perfect, and this made him NOT perfect. Which I love.
So, as awful as it was, it made him more.. real to me. It hurt, really it did, the life was sucked out of me, everything I thought Maxon was, was gone. He was an entirely new person. Until he explained himself. I started to realize that he was not who he portrayed, he was this entire new, great person I admired.
Then those scars.. I'd kiss everyone if I could. Cause as evil as they were, they made Maxon who he was. It also shook me to the bones, to be honest, that Maxon had gone through that alone.

My favourite scene in The Elite is during the rebel attack and Maxon & America have to hide in the Maid's ''hiding place(?)''. It was just them, these two people, in a whole different world. And not only that, Maxon. He was this new person. He was himself, more truly, he showed his scars (both real and hypothetically), I felt. America wasn't confused of her feelings, cause she didn't think about them. She thought of Maxon and only him. That part in the book just sealed the deal for me.

Then there is Aspen.
I've always had this inkling of annoyance for Aspen, trust me, I see the good in him and know he's a good guy, I just..ah.. his actions just make me want to facepalm. Ever since he was introuduced I didn't like him. Which is honestly weird, I really don't know why. I just don't. He also felt so unncessary in the books, if I'm being real here. He really wasn't needed. Though I don't mind it all too much ,though, it added tension to the series. I just really hated the sneaking around he and America did. Since Book 1, when he was all like, pulling her blanket and made out with her. Like. What. The. Can't you just talk about your relationship calmly before necking (I mean they had things to talk about!)? And COME ON. He says he loves her (and I know he does), but why risk her ending up like Marlee? It's too long to explain, I just really do not like Aspen all the much, more of his decisions when it comes to America. Other then that, he's a pretty stand-up guy.

All in all, The Elite had it's up and downs, but I wouldn't give them up for the world.

I really agree with everything you said in this post. Although at the beginning I was looking through America's point of view and thought Maxon would be snotty and act like he was the most important person, as soon as he asked for the guards to open the doors the first night, I knew he would be a great character. His having scars and showing them to America made me want to cry, yet I don't know whether items from sadness or happiness. I am most definitely team Maxon, whenever America said she would meet Aspen again made me almost throw the book at the wall yelling 'NO! America why?!'. I didn't, of course, out of respect for it but mostly because I couldn't put it down. TEAM MAXON!
