I have always been on team Maxon. Even before i read the book. There was something that annoyed me about Aspen. And even though Maxon did some stupid stuff in all three books, i think his character was wonderful.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER OMG HY YOU RUINED IT FOR ME!!!!!!

Maxon does ALOT of good for her and her family, he can provide for them. They will have plenty of food and will be content living in the castle. And also I think that America will make a great queen. even thought she is a little pig headed at times that could become a good quality as queen. although if she doesn't want the crown then she might not be the best pick for the job... I wish she could marry Maxon but not have to wear the crown with all of the strings attached ya know? But, she is good with quick decisions the only issue is that once she makes those decisions she never lets them go which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Well all in all I still want her to be with Maxon.

I absolutely agree which is kind of what I was trying to say in my earlier comment.

I agree with you on that one as well. But I was still happy in the end. Because Gale doesn't even exist but the end of the series unlike in the selection series.

Sad though she ends up with Maxon. :(
But at least Aspen found Lucy!!! :)

Me too! I was so upset when he ended up with her. But again like i said you could very much tell by the cover!

you will love it more until the One... The roller coaster ride of emotion..♥♥
trust me! I am in love with Price Maxon too.. ♥♥

So, as awful as it was, it made him more.. real to me. It hurt, really it did, the life was sucked out of me, everything I thought Maxon was, was gone. He was an entirely new person. Until he explained himself. I started to realize that he was not who he portrayed, he was this entire new, great person I admired.
Then those scars.. I'd kiss everyone if I could. Cause as evil as they were, they made Maxon who he was. It also shook me to the bones, to be honest, that Maxon had gone through that alone.
My favourite scene in The Elite is during the rebel attack and Maxon & America have to hide in the Maid's ''hiding place(?)''. It was just them, these two people, in a whole different world. And not only that, Maxon. He was this new person. He was himself, more truly, he showed his scars (both real and hypothetically), I felt. America wasn't confused of her feelings, cause she didn't think about them. She thought of Maxon and only him. That part in the book just sealed the deal for me.
Then there is Aspen.
I've always had this inkling of annoyance for Aspen, trust me, I see the good in him and know he's a good guy, I just..ah.. his actions just make me want to facepalm. Ever since he was introuduced I didn't like him. Which is honestly weird, I really don't know why. I just don't. He also felt so unncessary in the books, if I'm being real here. He really wasn't needed. Though I don't mind it all too much ,though, it added tension to the series. I just really hated the sneaking around he and America did. Since Book 1, when he was all like, pulling her blanket and made out with her. Like. What. The. Can't you just talk about your relationship calmly before necking (I mean they had things to talk about!)? And COME ON. He says he loves her (and I know he does), but why risk her ending up like Marlee? It's too long to explain, I just really do not like Aspen all the much, more of his decisions when it comes to America. Other then that, he's a pretty stand-up guy.
All in all, The Elite had it's up and downs, but I wouldn't give them up for the world.

I really agree with everything you said in this post. Although at the beginning I was looking through America's point of view and thought Maxon would be snotty and act like he was the most important person, as soon as he asked for the guards to open the doors the first night, I knew he would be a great character. His having scars and showing them to America made me want to cry, yet I don't know whether items from sadness or happiness. I am most definitely team Maxon, whenever America said she would meet Aspen again made me almost throw the book at the wall yelling 'NO! America why?!'. I didn't, of course, out of respect for it but mostly because I couldn't put it down. TEAM MAXON!

After Aspen and America parted ways, he told her to enter the Selection. I think this was the part that really did it for me. He wanted her to be happy nonetheless. He loved with all of his heart, but knowing he would not be able to provide as a Six, he gave her his best hopes. I'm sorry but this is just too cute.
Maxon is a very interesting character, and I like him as that. But unfortunately the good looks and royalty do deceive because he played around with other girls, practically right in front of America.
Even being promoted to a Two and being much closer to America as a guard, Aspen never stopped loving her. He risked his job that gave him and his family money unimaginable and a high rank to express his feelings towards America. Personally, I think this is such an admirable quality.
Maxon clearly seems to be the favorite because he is "gentlemanly and patient." But it cannot be denied that he did engage in sexual relations with other girls. Does that deem true love to America? I think not. Being prince doesn't make it okay to do whatever he desires with no courtesy of her feelings.
Okay, that may have sounded harsh, and i'm sorry Maxon-lovers. I respect him as a character but go Team Aspen! I know it will likely not work out, because then the whole series will be pointless, but I just really love the two together.
