I really enjoyed I Capture the Castle. I had already seen the movie, so I don't know how that influenced my liking of it, but I do truthfully think it was a lovely book.

I enjoyed this one. More different than the movie than I was expecting. I felt that it was very deep and moving for a children's book. I found it even slightly disturbing! But overall, I thought it was a great book.

I read this for a class on human sexuality. A very interesting book! Really opened my eyes to a whole group of people I had never really thought about before.

I read this one, as well as my last 2 books, for class. Disturbing and sad, but so interesting. Read in about a day and a half.

I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one day (yesterday), so a quick read.

I liked it, but I didn't feel that it really compared to "East of Eden."
9. Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier
Loved this book! I had already seen the movie and I loved that also. The one problem I had was with the "trying to sound old-fashioned"-writing in places, but I loved the story and got through it very quickly.
Wow, only book 9! Well, it's summer, so maybe I'll catch up...

I had read the play a long time ago and vaguely remembered the ending, so...probably not a good idea to read the book and hope to be surprised! Anyway, it was an enjoyable read.
11. The Lover by Marguerite Duras
What a bizarre book. But with the most amazing ending ever.

Absolutely brilliant. I loved everything about this novel. It captivated me, moved me, and proved to me that science fiction can be fantastic!

I felt the same way! I had avoided reading it because I didn't think I'd like it very much. So many people have suggested Ender's Shadow also, do you think it's worth reading?
13. The Last of Cheri by Colette
Terribly boring. I really liked "Cheri," but couldn't get into this one. I felt like absolutely nothing happened. Oh well.

My best friend's little sister was reading this and suggested we both read it, so we did. I thought it was surprisingly good and enjoyable!
15. Coraline by Neil Gaiman
Wow. Weird, creepy, interesting, and a just plain great read!

The first of hers that I've read! I actually really enjoyed it, even though it didn't really have a climactic moment or anything.
17. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
So so sad. Really sad. Very well written, but any book where dogs get killed...I just have trouble getting through.
18. Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach
Read it in about an hour and really enjoyed it! It had lots of interesting ideas about life which I really liked reading about. There were so many ideas, though, and at at times I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to take away from it.

BTW, If you can find it, the Album by Neal Simon is wonderful.
RE: Of Mice and Men. The tragedy isn't the dog being killed. It's the way that people like Lenny are treated and the inability of some people to foresee what the result of their actions will be right unto death.
Steinbeck rules!

19. Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
My friend had been trying to get me to read this for a while, so I went ahead and read it. I enjoyed it, but it didn't really make a huge impact on me. It was just a "sweet" story, for me.
20. Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A. Milne
I needed to read something comforting, so I did! What a lovely book. Because it was a children's book, it had such a simplistic quality and was just so sweet and honest.

21. Identity by Milan Kundera
Now one of my favorite books of all time and one of my favorite authors of all time. I thought I he couldn't have written anything better than "the unbearable lightness of being," but I was proven wrong!! I just couldn't stop sighing after I finished it. :-)
So far:
1. The End by Lemony Snicket
