Selma O. | 42 comments The manga is just images from the movie, I read it and it's the same.

Jack Frost, Jaquelyn, Jackie: {The empress of winter; The lonely white wolf } (elchornoboy) You could basically read it and watch the movie at the same time.

Selma O. | 42 comments Yeah. I was in the library with my otaku friends and we were in the manga section discussing manga, anime and video games when I noticed it. And I went in fangirl mode talking about Howl until they shut me up! ^_^"

Annabelle THE NOVEL IS AMAZING! don't just read the manga but the actual book by Diana Wynne Jones. You will seriously fall head over heels for Howl.

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 1907 comments I saw the movie first, and I loved it! It was my first Studio Ghibli film, actually. And then my parents bought me the book, and that was awesome, too! :D

message 17: by Parker (new)

Parker (flipwizard) I read the book. Howl actually seriously annoys me, but it's in a likeable enough way. :)

message 18: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Graf The book is by Diana Wynne Jones, and it has 2 'sequels' where Sophie, Howl, and Calcifer appear in the books, but aren't the main characters. I love them all, and the movie, though they are very different from each other. I can honestly say Diana Wynne Jones is my favorite author of all time.

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) | 1907 comments I got the movie for Christmas. ^-^ *does happy dance*

Little "Dani" Blue | 57 comments This is my favorite movis from Ghibli. I also read the book and I LOVED them both

Elysia (elysia_rae) I adore this movie! The book was really good as well! It's hard to pick which I like better. Howl is a bit more dramatic in the book to me, which I love. :)

Oh yeah, they left that whole bit out (but Michael's adorable in the movie so I could let it slid!). It's still a good movie though. :D (And Sophie was a ginger in the book right?)

talltyrion One of the things I appreciate most about Miyazaki is how he managed to create the movie Howl's Moving Castle and keep it just enough like the book to make me love them both so much. They're each different stories in the end, and that usually makes me want to throttle the director, but not in this case. :)

Doctor Who Fan I♥♥DW | 389 comments THE BOOK!!!! I love Diana Wynne Jones!!!!!!!!! Howl is amazing in the novel, and I've read the first couple manga books, but not seen the movie... I kinda want to though!

Michelle- I am right there with you! She is one of my all time favorite authors. I have read these books, specifically Howl's Moving Castle, so many times that my copies are falling apart. I literally cried when I found out that Miyazaki (my favorite director) was turning my favorite book into a film. It was a GLORIOUS moment.

I absolutely love the chemistry between Howl & Sophie- especially in the book. It melts my heart & makes me squee all over the place.

Saving People, Hunting Things~ The Family Business | 204 comments I love the movie.
I wasn't aware of the book until a few weeks ago so I haven't read it. I hope it's as good or better than the movie.

It is absolutely better than the movie- and I say this as a huge fan of Miyazaki.

message 30: by Grace (new)

Grace (greymoony) I loveeeeeee the movie so much! It's different than the book, but quite similar as well. The book is better than the movie, I've got to say. Though, I absolutely adore Miyazaki and I think they did a fabulous job!

Rena | 9 comments I saw the movie first, but I love both the movie and the book. They are so diffrent, not only in certain plot points and characters (the whole way of dealing with the witch anyone?) but also in style...i just wish I could get my hands on the books sequels!

Garden of Eden (evaindahouse) | 27 comments I start reading Howl's Moving Castle book just recently. But I have watched the movie back when I was 14 or 15 years old. I can't remember when exactly. I think both are awesome although the plot is so different.
