 Mini-Challenge #14: Book Chain

While smoking their stash of pipe weed (adult Hobbits only!), co-captains of Hobbit Team (aka Cerulean) came with great idea for RaT mini-challenge.

The way they explained it, as best they could, follows. :D

It's book chain.

One of the Captains (or Mods) post a book/cover; next one has to match it by author's first/last name; or word in title; or something on the cover, and so on.

Example:
First person, Hobbit Turtlecollector, posts: Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson Confessions of a Murder Suspect, James Patterson

The next person, could post:
The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner The Maze Runner, by James Dashner (because of author's name)

or...
Requiem (Delirium, #3) by Lauren Oliver Requiem, by Lauren Oliver (because of girl on cover)

or...
Confessions of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #1) by Sophie Kinsella Confessions of a Shopaholic, by Sophie Kinsella (because of the word "confessions" in the title)
Suggested by Team Cerulean (AKA "Hobbit Blue")

Turtlecollector Dennis | 1164 comments Mini-Challenge #2:

I stole onto Kirsten's link on Tickle Me Pink because that is my real name. Here is the book I liked because of the cover. I like the way it is a reflection, but the character is different on both sides.

Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1) by Rachel Hawkins

message 4: by Barb (new)

Barb If we've already done these in the other thread, do you want us to copy/paste here and delete over there? Or just leave it alone?

message 5: by Moderators of NBRC, Challenger-in-Chief (new)

Moderators of NBRC | 33044 comments Mod
You can copy & paste if you want to. But since we comment on everybody's challenges, don't delete them from the other thread.

message 6: by Barb (new)

Barb OK, that makes sense.

Here are both of mine, from the other thread:

Mini Challenge #1: Green with Envy
representing team Mango Tango

A Dog's Journey by W. Bruce Cameron Making Toast by Roger Rosenblatt May Day (Murder-by-Month Mystery, #1) by Jess Lourey The Dog Park Club A Mystery by Cynthia Robinson The Innocents by Francesca Segal

Mini-Challenge #2: Behind Enemy Lines
from Mango Tango team

TEAM SPIED UPON: Cadet Blue
TEAM MEMBER: Lisa Kay

BOOK: Seeing is Believing by Erin McCarthy

REASON: The little dog in the corner of the cover caught my eye :) He (she?) looks so sweet, I hope s/he is important in the story!
LK said that Snoopy IS part of the story :)

message 7: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Copied from the RaT Thread

Mini-Challenge #1:Green with Envy

My cell phone camera doesn't take good pictures with artificial light so I'll use the GR's tool
The Magic Circle by Katherine Neville Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling Wildwood Dancing (Wildwood, #1) by Juliet Marillier Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke

Mini-Challenge #2: Behind Enemy Lines

Stealth is not my main quality, I mean, if I applied for a spy job I'll be dead before leaving the spy academy.

But I know people that knows people, so Adrian an Lissa made me a bracelet that allowed me to enter the Hobbit Hole and return safely as long as the hobbits were on a haze induced by the smoking pipes.

Main target: Ezinwanyi's shelf. Reason: she has an amazing taste on men..I mean Books! I totally meant books.

I found out what I was looking for, the first volume of Lux's series, Obsidian (Lux, #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout , with a hot guy on the cover - didn't I tell you about her excellent taste on books?

Suddenly, the soft murmurs stopped. Dang, the pipes were off and the bracelet was loosing its confundus effect. What to do? What to do?

While looking in despair to the prized Obsidian, the hot guy's eyes distracted me a bit and then I knew.

I had power. Not just the Harpie wings. I had friends.
Specially a great planweaver friend that conveniently left a hidden and fitted only for me small pocket fairy.

I reach for it and suddenly I was on her hidden castle, where her personal brownie had set a special reading corner just for me, with a cozy fire and a steamy mug of hot chocolate goodness. I felt cherished. I felt at home. I was safe.

Mini-Challenge #1 - Green with Envy
Team Leather Jacket Black

Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks The Time Paradox (Artemis Fowl, #6) by Eoin Colfer The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce Cloudstreet by Tim Winton

I didn't realise how many books I have with green covers! So 4 of these I have read and one (Artemis Fowl) is TBR

Mini Challenge #2 - Behind Enemy Lines

I went into the google spreadsheet and thought it may take me a while to decide on which shelf to pry! By random I picked Tower Team Atomic Tangerine - Claire's shelf and loved the look of this cover! What an original book to find on a shelf, and she rated it 4 stars, which of course means it just has to be read. :)

Rowling Apple Turnover Murder (Hannah Swensen, #13) by Joanne Fluke Almost Perfect (Fool’s Gold #2) by Susan Mallery

Mini-Challenge #2: Behind Enemy Lines

Since I've been discovered on my previous sneaking attempts, this time I've decided to go openly.
I've opened the door of our Hobbit Hole and stepped outside. First thing I've noticed is that our Hobbit Hole is quite smoky and that can't be all from our pipes. We don't smoke that much. (And we are currently out of leaves.) Maybe some kind of magic is in place. *shruggs* No time to investigate. I'm Hobbit on the mission.
So, munching, I went to Cadet Blue in search of cupcakes (and guys out of in uniform).

Doors were wide open so I went in. I called to announce myself, but nobody answered. Believing they wouldn't leave door open if they don't want visitors, I went in search of kitchen. Giving it only superficial glance (opening all cupboards and checking every nook) I went to check out rest of the place.

Sadly no cupcakes (or uniforms), but I did find Cowboy Take Me Away (Rainbow Valley, #1) by Jane Graves on Lisarenee's shelf. I love Jane Graves' books. I don't know how I missed this one. Lisarenee gave it 5 stars and now it's on my to-read shelf.

Mission accomplished, although not the one I set out to do, I went back to our Hobbit Hole. It's time for supper! :D

*Sorry ladies if I left crumbs behind*

I creeped out of my beautiful lofty purple mountains and crawled into B'dazzled blues little den to see what they have been up to... I smuggled out a nice little gem from Zara called The thirteenth tale...

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield seems to me that they have been keeping a few secrets and telling tall tales, figured it would make some nice reading once I scurried back to my great Purple Mountains!
