The Elite
question
Am I the only person upset about the Kriss situation?

I totally understand why Maxon kept his options open,America's behavior was hard to read. However, the fact that he suddenly fell for Kriss crushed me (I hugely ship Maxerica). I didn't feel that he truly loved America the same way he did before, but I don't know who to be upset at for this, America,Maxon,Kriss or Aspen (right now I don't trust anyone). And don't get me started on Celeste. So let me know what you thought about this plotline :D

Kriss really pissed me off. The way she talked about how Maxon "liked" America in past tense made me want to throw my book in an oven. It also annoyed me how she got to go in Maxon's room. America didn't, so it's NOT OKAY that loser Kriss gets to. I mean sure, America got to go in the Princess suite, but only because that was the only way she would be able to see Marlee. And when she was like, oh, I just keep imagining kids with my eyes and his hair... No Kriss, SHUTUP!! Who said she was going to be the one? And then at the end of the book when America was about to leave and she was all happy and like "don't forget our date tonight Maxon, (winky face)", skips down the hall. Ummmmm, hello? If you'd stayed about two more seconds you would've heard Maxon say your his second choice, so sit down.
This book makes me want to pull out my hair. Kiera Cass puts so many different conflicts in it! Its hard to keep up. But if they are truly talking about true love there would only be one person. But, as we look at our characters, we realize that all of them are going behind someone's back. (well except for aspen... but that's never going to happen). Maxon would be good for America, but they need to straighten out their shit before anything happens. Maxon, stop talking to Kriss. America, understand that Maxon is better for you than Aspen (not just because he's the prince), so stop playing around with Aspen. And lastly, Celeste, go die in hole.
She definitely bothered me. But I kind of think that she is like his Aspen. I think what America and Maxon have is a very big love. It's slow and quick to grow and there's tons of fire. There is even a part in the book or she talks about even if she never ended up with Aspen She would never feel that same way about any One else.
I'm kind of scared that she's making a romance with Kriss so that if Aspen ends up with America Maxon won't be alone. I predict that America will end up with Maxon. I believe this because she is such a strong person and would be a great leader and even though the romance with Aspen was sweet, it seems better with her and Maxon. They really good for each other

I just can't... After reading the part where Kriss said Maxon shown her his room and go all like "he liked you" blah blah blah it just pissed me off. I want to rip Maxon's head off. Like dude, it just a card she made. Plus, of course everyone is competing for him and the crown. Kriss is definitely no princess material. America might be indecisive but we can't blame her. Aspen is her childhood friend and they've been together for 2 years whereas the whole Kriss and Maxon thing happened with just one stupid handmade card she made. Oh.. Oh! and if America doesn't choose Maxon, he can choose anyone else anyway not like he have to be romancing with them to get them. They're all already there waiting to be choose!
I can understand why he kept his options open: America wasn't open to what she felt and she didn't even know yet so he had to have somebody in case that she rejected him. I mean I think some of us would do the same, I know I would.
No i hate kriss she is just like a boundry between america and maxon
Maybe Kriss lied to everyone, and she is just a little worst tham Celeste.
When I take my emotions out of the equation, I can understand why Maxon has to keep Kriss there..and maybe even why he is letting himself have genuine feelings for her. It's his job, that's the point of the selection, he's just a confused teen, etc. But when my emotions are in the equation, which they frankly always are, I am crushed by his feelings for her. I know it's not plausible because of the nature of The Selection, but I just want him to throw caution to the wind and truly choose America, and say, "If I can't have her, I don't want anyone!" If he really does love her as much as he says then he would be able to forget his princely duties to find a wife, and spend his time working on his relationship with America. Admittedly, America is not making it easy for him to do this.
Okay Kriss I just wanna STAB YOU IN THE EYE WITH A FORK. When I read the first book, The Selection, I knew from the beginning I was gonna hate Celeste. She was gonna be that ONE girl that is always snobby and real mean to everyone, but I ended up hating Kriss. LIKE YOU THINK YOUR ALL PERFECT AND SHIT AND IT PISSES ME OFF! If you're going to imagine your kids with his hair and his eyes GO DO IT IN YOUR GRAVE!!! I ship Maxerica fo eva and I hope Kriss dies! :D
america - i really wish she would remember to be at least a little like a lady!! like.. dont scream at maxon (complete turn off), and stop bawling nobody wants ur snot all over their shirt + your face swells up. no wonder nobody is intimidated by you anymore. and stop sneaking around with Aspen!! And have a backbone. stop doing whatever kriss tells you to like HELLO + keep a secret
maxon - get your feelings straight. do you want america or not? dont toy around with her like that.
celeste - i want to slap her. end of story.
kriss - she annoyed me SO much. she was so much like a lady, and praised AMerica so she could know what she really thought. such a wannabe too
marlee - nooo!!! america lost u when she needed u most! congrats, btw.
kiera cass - why???? you tore my heart into pieces. plus, can you give America more of a lady-like demeanor? All her little tantrums and acts irk me.
P.S. i already read this book, but rereading it makes me mad all over again. /.\

Kriss makes me want to stab something. WHO DOES SHE THINK SHE IS????? UGGG I HATE HER!!!! She won't be the one!!! She can't!!! If I were maxon, I would let here imagine kids with my hair in her eyes IN PRISION!!!!
All i can say is that I hate Maxon in the most part of this book. (And love him alot in the next)
Katherine Reilly
I totally agree. In this book he needs to figure out whether he wants to spend the rest of his life with America or not. She said yes. End the selecti
...more
I was upset about it, but it made me feel better to think that Kriss is his second choice... I am more bothered by the whole getting frisky with celest. That just made me want to tear my books to shreds.
Yes! Oh my god I'm reading The Elite for the second time right now and I'm so annoyed at Kriss. Like please shut up I don't care about you and Maxon! Ahh I just really want her to die. She's the character that I hate most. Actually I think she's tied with Clarkson but Clarkson was Maxon's father so... But yes, Kriss is definitely my least favourite.
Throughout the book I very much was annoyed with Kriss. I felt myself hating the girl just because he loved a guy. I guess being a huge shipper for Maxerica is part of this but it also very much annoyed me of how perfect the book said she was, I personally liked that Max and America had trouble in their relationship because it made it seem so much more real. With Max and Kriss the whole thing just seemed really fake even if they were not the main couple of the story.

No he's being smart. America has told him time and time again that she's not sure and she has a side piece of her own. Maxon has to marry whether America takes him or not so he's doing what he has to do. He already made it clear to her that Kriss is his backup so I'm not really concerned especially since America and Aspen keep sneaking kisses all the time. She basically put herself in this position if she made it clear to Maxon that she loved him and only him and would except her role as princess they would have been married by now.
I mean... It makes sense. If she doesn't accept his affections he has to have a backup plan. He's sure about her but if she refuses him then what the hell is he going to do? I feel that there were points where if he would have asked her, she would have said yes and it would have been soooo much simpler! But of course... we can't have nice things.
I switched between listening to the audiobook of The Elite and reading a book I borrowed from a friend. Let me just say this, Kriss pisses me off no matter what form this book is in. Like girl, nobody cares about your date with Maxon and how your children would look like. She is honestly infuriating and in The One, I wished Maxon kept someone else like Celeste. Also, it got on my nerves how Kriss always said Maxon "liked" America in past tense and the fact she looked sad at the wedding. It was America's special day and yet she couldn't paste a fake smile on her face. And even though America sometimes is a bit mean, America managed to smile when Kriss talked about Maxon liking her past tense and a ton more bitchy things. I am honestly so happy that Maxon and America stayed together and even Eadlyn said that she couldn't imagine her father with anyone else.
Actually after the selection the one Kriss lives with her dad and actually gets married to Eliot here is info about him
Elliot Piaria is a character mentioned in Happily Ever After. He is the husband of Kriss Ambers and a famous botanist, working as a professor in a university in Columbia. He is nerdy but kinda cute

I like Kriss’s character but SHE NEEDS TO BACK OFF. Maxon X America for life
I hate the way Kriss talked about Maxon and their relationship. because after Maxon indulge her, she was so sure that he will pick her. I hated her confidence. If she was not the way she is, I could feel sorry for someone in her situation. At the same time, I could not understand why he did that, too. I think the reasons showed by the character was not satisfying.
Kriss is a big N O. I might be a bit biased when I say this but, America is perfect for Maxon. Plus America would be a better leader. She has gone through so much as a 5 and then more as being judged on the palace. The frickin king said that she wasn't petty and then pretty much said she would be a horrible queen. Kriss on the other hand never had that growing up and was loved by the people and the king. Maxon has gone through pain, like America ( his own dad abused him). They can connect better and would be a better couple. Plus, don't know if this is just me, but her relationship with Maxon feels quick and superficial. She doesn't contradict him or argue. That stuff is needed in a relationship and there's literally no fire between them. America would just be better. I ship America+Maxon, Lucy-Aspen and then Kirss can get one of those guards they saw running with their shirts off. I honestly have nothing against Kirss ( other then saying America's and Maxons relationship as past tense and thinking of her kids with Maxon, girl you ain't it and so many other instances) but I definitely think she shouldn't be with Maxon and was very mad when they got together in Elite. Tell me I'm not alone, she's as pesky as Aspen, people just let America and Maxon be in love in peace. I haven't finished the series and I really hope that Maxon and America get together. (Also this might be the worst ship name ever but how do you feel about Americano?). Keep reading and thank you Kirra Cass for making me both love and hate these books. Stay wonderful!
I personally didn't like Kriss but I was a BIG fan of celeste when she wasn't all over Maxon, near the end of book 3 she was my favourite character.
I agree. Kriss and Maxon bugged me. However, I can see why Maxon would want to try and have a more romantic relationship with someone other than America, seeing as she's still not entirely sure that she really wants to be with Maxon. I don't blame Prince Maxon for trying to be with Kriss, when America is still all weepy over Aspen. Honestly, though, I still wish Kriss would just vanish off the face of the earth.
I really hate Kriss and love her at the same time. In a weird way I almost feel like I would be her if I was in the Selection.
She really seems to love Maxon and is very kind, but she really is pushy and annoying sometimes. I just want this series to be over with so I don't have to make myself feel better by ranting online about this book.
This goes out to Keira Cass-none of us would mind an early release :P

Well, they say that a man wants to be needed. And because of the Marlee situation and some other stuff, America and Maxon relationship kinda fell apart a bit. On the other hand, Kriss grab the opportunity to be more close to Prince Maxon, that's why he seems more sweet to Kriss now.
Hey, if he happens to choose Kriss, I'm good because she can go back to Aspen, who is now a Two. If he chooses Celeste I will go and eat Kiera Cass alive JK lol, but seriously not Celeste.
I'm a bit disappointed that when they were hiding in the room and Maxon was talking about his feelings for America. I couldn't help but notice that when he talks about his feelings for her it's always in the past tense and when he talks about kriss it's in the present tense. If I were in A's shoes, I would be deeply hurt that his love for me wasn't that strong enough. That during signs of trouble, his love didn't grow but seemed to wither.

I have found the perfect solution to this.
Kriss goes with Aspen - because they just looked rather cute together in my mind - especially when Aspen was reassuring Kriss towards the end of the book.
That then leaves Maxon and America to go together and America can then push for the change necessary to save Illea and change it for the better. Maxon and America doo make a cute couple in that I personally believe that Kriss' personality - her easy obedience and whatnot would not be somehing that Illea needs and would therefore make the whole series pointless.
At the end of the day, I am a supporter of Maxerica through and through.

I don't think it is fair that America is supposed to work for Maxon's trust!!!
Just because America doesn't go with Maxon, doesn't mean she has to go with Aspen. She should keep HER options open.
Ugh! I wish Kriss ( although she is so kind and nice) and Celeste (especially her!) vanished. Kriss annoyed me but she was always so good hearted.

Ugh yes totally, I felt that this whole book was going in circles, with the characters all spiraling downwards until I wanted to scream at them. America wouldn't make up her mind, Aspen was only there half the time (what was he doing???), Maxon is fooling around, Just Lame..
in the first book i liked Kriss. now i wish the rebels would get rid of her. i am so angry at Maxon!!! what the heck with Celeste!! MAN SLUT!!!
EVERYONE in this book has some SERIOUS work to do in the next book to get me to like them again!!

I personally feel kinda bad for Kriss. The other girls left in the competition seem to be there for the crown, not necessarily for Maxon.
America is sooo fickle, I'm not really sure she deserves Maxon. And yeah, I totally understand why he kept his options open.
Kriss seems to be the one girl who is still in the Selection because she honestly just wants to be with Maxon. I feel like he obviously a better fit with America, but Kriss at least KNOWS she wants him. She isn't flip flopping around with his emotions repeatedly.
Also, in the Ebook prequel, The Prince, you get the Prince's point of view. I LIKED Kriss for the second he met her....

you're definitely not alone with your feelings towards the kriss situation. i have to say that it bothered me quite a bit for any number of reasons. i know that he had to keep his options open in case america didn't come to her senses, but i think that kriss just rubs me the wrong way.
what really gets me though is that Maxon made such a big deal about showing america the princess room yet he brought kriss into HIS room which he's never done with America. i wonder if kriss even knows that there's a princess room. all questions that i have for the next and finale book i guess.
i also in the back of my mind wonder if there's an ulterior motive with kriss or if she's going to have a deeper story line vs. just being the other girl vying for his affections. we'll see...we'll see

I'm not a huge shipper of any couple in this book really but since America is still hung up on Aspen and has been seeing him in secret I can't be too mad at Maxon. I was more upset over him with Celeste because I also hate her. Maxon has to find a wife so this isn't as much about love for him as it is for the girls not to mention all the girls have to be faithful to him but when the girls see other guys they are beaten in the square. The whole situation is just icky to me. I also think a big part of why America is staying is because she wants to be Queen and make changes and she is not just staying because of her feelings for Maxon. America flip flopped so much it because irritating.
I kind of hate Kriss, Aspen and America especially. Maxon would probably be better with Kriss though, she wouldn't break his heart. Although America would make a good leader, Maxon deserves someone better than her.
