Susan (boswellbaxter) | 7 comments I bought Alexandra The Last Tsarina by Carolly Erickson used over the weekend. Reviews of it seem mixed--has anyone else read it? Is it factually accurate?

Marjorie Van | 53 comments there are so many references and bios of Alix that I wonder how much more there is to learn? I'll have to read this one, as I missed it spmehow.

Kit I thought it was well written and very accurate. I still think Robert Massie's books are the best I've read. He seems to be less biased about the Romanovs. Some authors are too opinionated about the Romanovs.

I read this one because I'm doing an authors challenge.

Marjorie Van | 53 comments I just looked at my library and I have this book and liked it. Had forgotten I had it.

Velia (veliaf) I've wanted to read this one, but a lot of the reviewers seem to label it historical fiction because of the inaccuracies. I've added and removed it from my shelves a couple times. I may read it to form my own opinion.

I'm a little confused by that, too; but I found my copy in the Biographies (and it was listed as biographical)! In reading it, I don't remember any thing major that appeared different. Its been a long time though since I have read Massie and other accounts, (20 years). I've been concentrating on finding other materials on the Romanov and this period! If you read it, let me know how you felt about it. I may read it again-as well as Massie's version.

Susan (boswellbaxter) | 7 comments I finished it and enjoyed it very much--indeed, I liked it a lot more than any of Erickson's novels. I thought it was gripping and moving. I haven't researched the period, though, so I've no way to judge the quality of the research.

Kit I'm re-reading Nicholas and Alexandra. It has been a while!

Marjorie Van | 53 comments I have this book....it isn't that much more informative than all the others. Am reading a very well written book about the life and times of Rasputin and his interplay with the Romanov family. Really inhteresting

S. Shelton | 19 comments Good day, all:

I've not read Erickson's book re Alexandra. However, I've read several other books on the Romanov's, the Russian Revolution, and the regicide at Ekaterinburg in July 1918. In my historical novel, titled "St. Catherine's Crown," I portray Empress Alexandra as having a mien that is strong, intelligent, and resourceful--contrary to the facts, I admit. Needed, however, to set the foundation for my tale. May I suggest that you read my story--available on Amazon Kindle. Thanks. Marty Shelton
