L (laurreadsthings) No, not yet. I'm waiting for the library to get it back.

message 352: by [deleted user] (new)

Laur, what do you think of Blue Bloods so far?

message 353: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Laur, and what did you think of The Dead and The Gone... it looks interesting!

I read Blue Bloods awhile back. I can't remember anything about it! My memory is horrible. I don't retain anything. I know I liked it enough to read the second one. And Revelations is on my TBR list. Hope you enjoy it.

message 354: by [deleted user] (new)

I enjoyed Blue Bloods. The Van Alen Legacy (the 4th book in the series) comes out Oct 1 and I intend to read it right away.

message 355: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen | 229 comments I liked Blue Bloods, I still haven't read the sequels though.

I though it was really good. Well written, the story line, the main charters, all great I highly recommend it.

So far it doesn't seem to bad.

I've rated it as 5 stars, too. What a great book! It's so thought-provoking, too, which I never really expected.

Eden Silverfox (tsalagi_writer) | 265 comments I'm reading The Game by Diana Wynne Jones.

Allison (inconceivably) Eden wrote: "I'm reading The Game by Diana Wynne Jones."

oooo I hope you like it! I thought it was great, I actually wish it had been longer.

message 362: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) The Dead and the Gone - fantastic, although I actually liked Life As We Knew It better. I can't wait to read the third one! I personally didn't like Blue Bloods, but I gave the series another chance and read the second. I won't be reading any of the others.

I just finished two books - Amor and Summer Secrets by Diana Rodriguez Wallach, and Dreamhunter by Elizabeth Knox. Amor and Summer Secrets was a fun read about a half-Puerto Rican girl who must come to terms with her roots when her father sends her to island of his birth for a summer. Dreamhunter took about 200 pages to take off, and right up until the end I thought I would give it 4 stars. After it ended, I gave it 5. It's technically more like the first half of a really long book, so I'm glad I already have the "sequel" on my shelf.

Jamie I'm starting Anne of the Island tonight and I've also been listening to the audio version of I Am the Messenger.

message 364: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments Finished The Waters & the Wild and Warrior Princess, so now I'll be reading either ghostgirl or Vacations from Hell, or both most likely.

Ooohh... enjoy the I Am the Messenger audiobook! I really really liked it. The Aussie accent was fabulous!

message 366: by Josie (new)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments I borrowed two interesting looking YA books today (I say, in my fabulous Aussie accent :), The Declaration by Gemma Malley, and Shadow Web by N. M. Browne - anyone read either, by any chance, and know what I'm getting myself into?

message 367: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (bookgoddess1969) Along with my other reads, I'm going to reread Twilight. I read it quite awhile ago and I really feel that I went too fast. I don't remember much, so in order to continue the series I feel that I should give this a reread. It should be fun.

message 368: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments On my June reading list, I have the following YA books:
The Calder Game by Blue Balliett
Pendragon by D.J. MacHale
Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

I'm not sure if I'll get all four read, as I have a lot of adult fiction and a couple of non-fiction I'm trying to get to, too. Right now, I'm reading Silent On The Moor by Deanna Rayborne, a victorian mystery.

message 369: by Natalee (last edited Jun 05, 2009 07:42AM) (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments I am about to finish up AngelMonster and it's much better than I anticipated. It's a fictional tale of Mary Shelley's teenage years, mostly revolving around her marriage to Percy Shelley. I am really enjoying it but her life was very dark and sad. It makes me want to read a biography and learn the actual details. Not sure how much of this story is based on fact.

I read The Declaration when it came out. I think I expected too much from it, but I was pretty disappointed. I also didn't know there would be a sequel, so maybe that adds to it, but I didn't feel it was a strong stand alone book. I think there are better books of that type out there.

message 374: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 342 comments Crap, Fiona, I can't believe I left off I Capture the Castle from my June list. It's on there, honest. You gotta believe me.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I'm starting Vacations from Hell tonight. :)

message 376: by Josie (new)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments Thanks, Alexis, I've just started it and it's ok so far... incidentally, I've already finished Shadow Web, it really gripped me; I loved the idea of the alternate 2008 London.

message 377: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (alexabexis) I just read the blurb for Shadow Web and it sounds really good! I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Kristen Harvey | 1046 comments I'm buried under paperwork and listening to The Mysterious Benedict Society. I was hoping to read some of The Book Thief tonight, but it's not looking good. I also wanted to start Bras & Broomsticks.

message 387: by Natalee (new)

Natalee (nataleem00) | 459 comments Ugh...Too many books, not enough time. :-(
I planned on starting Hunger Games tonight... Until the library called. Both Enna Burning and The Book of Lost Things were ready for pickup. I love tough decisions like "which book should I read???". Why can't all the hard questions be like that?

message 388: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments I'm about to start Howl's Moving Castlefor the first book of task 25.4.

I just read that book last month. It's very good, I hope you enjoy it.

message 390: by Josie (new)

Josie (maid_marian) | 126 comments I finished The Declaration, and I have to agree with you, Alexis, it was disappointing. I didn't really care about the two main characters, and that never bodes well...

message 391: by Beth (last edited Jun 09, 2009 12:24PM) (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments Thanks Eden, Howl's Moving Castle looks like one of those books I won't be able to put down.

message 392: by Jessika (new)

Jessika Hoover (jessalittlenerdy) Started reading Twilight last night...it's a first time read for me, and I figured I'd see what all the hype was about. I have to admit, I'm hooked!

Sara ♥ (saranicole) | 719 comments w00t! I need to read Twilight again...

message 394: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 390 comments Fiona, have you read Castle in the Air too? I want to read it after Howl's Moving Castle for task 25.4. Is there a third one? Because of course I'll want to read that one too.
