Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews and the rest of the Kate Daniels series.

Lys (lysrowan) Ooh. I want to read that one.

It is such a good series! It is not a complete series though. Do I need to nominate another one?

message 7: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Turner (tashaturner) Ok feeling fuzzy headed today. By complete you mean series where all the books have been written and released? Yeah I'm that fuzzy today. LOL

message 8: by Lys (new)

Lys (lysrowan) A while ago someone asked that and the answer was that incomplete but long series were fine. So I think you're ok.

Actually..... its only complete series. It was getting confused when people would recommend a series and there was only one book out in the series so I am wanting only complete series suggested so we can read and complete a series over the months.

message 11: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Turner (tashaturner) Ok so even though the Kate Daniels (staring with Magic Bites) series has 5 books out with book 6 due out later this year it's not eligible for nomination because the authors Ilona Andrews are still working on future books in the series?

But On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews would be eligible for nomination as the authors have stated they have no plans to write more than the 4 books currently out?

message 15: by Sannie (last edited Jul 04, 2013 09:44PM) (new)

Sannie Hald (sanniehald) | 282 comments The Eye of the World and the rest of the series. There is 15 books (counting New Spring the prologue) in The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and then later Brandon Sanderson. I nominate it because I personally think this is the best fantasy series EVER WRITTEN and not many (my personal opinion) have ever heard of it.

It is a blend between other major fantasies out there such as Song of Ice and Fire but yet it isn't in the same way. It is very unique and deserves more attention.

Don't be discouraged because there are 15 books and they are all above 600+ pages. That only means more story, more magic, more time with your favourite characters.

Thanks for your time (:

Love WoT. I find the series makes more sense to many people if they read New Spring which was written later but is the PREQUEL to the series and helps people understand what's going on. I personally consider it the "real 1st book" especially if you look at the books from chronological order rather than published order.

message 18: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinpickell) | 1298 comments um I'd like to second the Wings (Wings, #1) by Aprilynne Pike series if I may. That looks good to me.

But can I also nominate Abandon (Abandon Trilogy, #1) by Meg Cabot Underworld (Abandon Trilogy, #2) by Meg Cabot Awaken (Abandon Trilogy, #3) by Meg Cabot . There are mixed reviews, but I want to try it out.

The WOT is my favorite fantasy series ever. It is totally unique; nothing else really compares to it. If it was selected for a series to read, it would have to be a series for the year at least. I have read all the books, but have forgotten a lot from the first few books. I also agree that one should start with New Spring (Wheel of Time, #0) by Robert Jordan . It makes it easier to understand what is happening.

YES Tt! I've been dying to read this one for a long time know and the ratings and reviews are very high and positive. The series sounds awesome, the books aren't long, they're not expensive (at least when I bought them last year), and there are only the 4 books! These are all plus factors on top of it sounding so interesting!

I loved the Kate Daniels series too! Did you read Magic Gifts and Gun metal magic, cause if you didn't you should, especially Magic Gift.

I loved that series, definitely worth reading, but Richelle Mead said that Last Sacrifice was the last book and that she wouldn't be writing a 7th book. I heard that there was going to be a movie too, but its probably going to be forever for all 6 movies to come out.

I'm definitely seconding this one! But there is no 7th? They started a sub-series off the 6th.

Okay, I'm totally confused. Can we nominate partial series or not? During the nominations for May, Alice said "It doesn't matter if it is complete or not but it should be three or more books out in the series :)". On the other hand, the instructions at the top of this thread say "Only nominate COMPLETE series!!" I don't really care which it is, but the rules at the top should state whatever it really is so we know what can be nominated and what can't!

I second On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews or Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews , whichever one was nominated and allowed!!

There are so many good suggestions here. I think almost any of these series would be a ton of fun to read. =D

Gwenn (idlecuriosity) I second The Wheel of Time by robert jordan and brandon sanderson. But i would prefer to start with The Eye Of The World.
New Spring is not a very good beginning to the series in my opinion.

Brilliant! Thanks, it was less confusing than I thought. And I see that Vampire Academy is indeed a complete series so that answers that question...

Did Tasha officially nominate On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews ?

And are nominations closing today the same as for August BOTM?

Michael Ok, I second or third On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews , too. I read the first one and want to continue the series. The first book had a bit of a Winter's Bone feel to it. I found the main character's situation refreshing and realistic.

message 47: by The Angry Lawn Gnome (last edited Jul 18, 2013 06:37AM) (new)

The Angry Lawn Gnome (mostlyharmlessreviews) An oldie but a goodie...
Illusion by Paula Volsky

Nominated by me for the purely selfish reason that it is one I'm planning to re-read at some point in the near future.

Personal opinion: One of the first paranormal romance novels I ever read, and possibly one of the first novels I'd say could identifiably be placed in the sub-genre. Also one of the best.

Also one of the few books I'd be willing to admit to saying had a cover that immediately roped me in. :)
