8. Not One Damsel in Distress: World Folktales for Strong Girls by Jane Yolen

Did you like it? What ages would you recommend it for?

I think it's perfect for tweens, but it's good for all ages, as well. The stories are all traditional stories from around the world, so they all have different types of morals and unusual endings.
For the older and more sarcastic fairy tale lover, I'd recommend Once Upon a More Enlightened Time by James Garner. They are all ULTRA-politically correct, hilarious re-tellings of traditional fairy tales. My favorite is "Sleeping Persun of Better Than Average Attractiveness."
:)

1/5 of the way there and only 1/6 of the way through the year! When I signed up for this group, I never thought that I might actually read 50 books in 1 year, but it looks like I just might do it. :)

12.Full Frontal Feminism: A Young Woman's Guide to Why Feminism Matters by Jessica Valenti
13.Why Do They Act That Way?:A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teens by David Walsh

22.The Far Side of Evil by Sylvia Louise Engdahl
23.Keeping You a Secret by Julie Anne Peters

I didn't really connect with UE as much as the Namesake. I'm much more of a novel lover rather than short stories, and it was quite a downer. Regardless, it's received great reviews. Let me know what you think.
