Where does everyone get their books? Does anyone know of websites where you can get books free or trade or something? Are there places where you can get books really cheap? And who uses audible? Is it worth it? I like listening to books, but I get a lot of mine through the library because they have a decent collection that I can download from.

I get all my free pdf stuff at Smashwords as I haven't got an ereader yet.

I get most of my audio books through my library. I signed up for Audible a while back but canceled it when the trial period was up. It seems expensive to me just to get one book a month...

All of my ebooks I get from Amazon. For physical books I use . It is a trade site.

Smashwords has a lot of free eBooks, most of which you can download in any format.

I recently released a new edition of my book Paradise Squandered and changed the pricing on . The recommended purchase price is $2.99, but you can actually pay whatever you want--you can download it for free if you want.

As far as I know, no other book sites let authors do this. I actually first heard of the whole "name your own price" idea when Radiohead released their album "In Rainbows."

I'm really curious to see how readers respond to this concept, though. Have any of you ever seen another book priced like this?

Used bookstores! Many have cheapie books for $2-$3, compared to $10-$14 for trade paperbacks, and less for really popular books. The James Patterson and John Grisham books I have in the store go for twenty-five, fifty cents each.
Plus, most offer store credit/book swapping. Most of my paperbacks go for $3, and if you bring in certain books, or books by certain authors, like Judith Ryan Hendricks or Lauren Groff's books, I'll offer $2-$3 in store credit.
