I've created this thread for all of you to have a place to discuss your favorite author, the author you hate the most, or just the most exciting author out there right now! Which author is it that you can't get enough of right this second?

I have a good amount, but I must say I really love Luanne Rice. I haven't been disappointed in any of her books. I'm almost done reading them all. Just love her!

I love her too Renee! She's one of my favorites. I love Sandcastles and I'm way into her Hubbard's Point books right now.

Just finished Safe Harbor. I'm going to read True Blue shortly. I was reading Cloud Nine before work and I was balling! Everyone I've given it to has had the same reaction.

Hands down... my favorite is James Patterson

James Patterson is another one of my faves! I've got all of his books except for 3 of them now I think. I can't read his Alex Cross books without picturing Morgan Freeman (is that what happens to you too Kat?) LOL

Renee, I haven't read Safe Harbor yet but I did read True Blue. That's a good one. I haven't read Cloud Nine either and sounds like I should get it and read it---its a good one?

Any Nora Roberts fans out there?

lol, yep...... everytime I read them I see Morgan Freeman!! But I love to watch his movies, so it's not too bad

I really like James Patterson, but I prefer Michael Connelly, I usually reach for his books when I want a mystery.
I *love* Jodi Picoult's books.
I also love Nicholas Evans' books, even though he only has 4 out. He's the guy who wrote The Horse Whisperer, but The Loop is his best in my oppinion.

When I find an author I really love, I have a hard time deciding if I should just tear through all of their books or pace myself. I tend to pace myself, that way I've always got something to fall back on if I can't find anything good.

I really enjoyed the book Astrid & Veronika by Linda Olsson, so was looking forward to reading her next book Sonata for Miriam. I think sometimes I have built up an author so that when reading something else, I just can't get into it. It was like that for me with Olsson's second book. But the first one was great!

And Holli, yea I like Nora Roberts! Tribute was great then by some quirk of fate the movie was on Hallmark like a week after I read it. The movie was lame I thought! I made my hd watch it (grudgingly) and I kept saying that's not what really happened!

And Jennifer, I like Nicholas Evans' books too. The Horse Whisperer was a great book, but the same thing happened when I watched the movie, didn't like it so much!

I like Nora Roberts too. I've recently gotten into Nicholas Sparks. I know a little late.

I used to love Patterson, but they all started to sound the same. I read all of the earlier Cross books, but the recent ones just weren't interesting for me.

I read every book by Sophie Kinsella, Jennifer Weiner, Janet Evanovich, Jane Green, Harlan Coben, Tami Hoag, Cecelia Ahern, Daniel Silva & Kathy Reichs.

If I find an author I like, I tend to look for every book they write and go through them.

Cindy- my mom loves Nora Roberts too, and she also agrees that the movies are lame. I think Hallmark does really bad interpretations of movies, my mom's always disappointed by them and I keep telling her not to watch it, but she does anyway!

My favorite author has got to be Meg Cabot. I think she's hilarious and she's always good for a pick-me-up.

Yeah I haven't liked any of the Nora Robert's Lifetime movies they put out and Tribute was no exception. I would never have cast Brittany Murphy in that role!!

I haven't read Nicholas Evans yet but I'd like to...The Loop is on my TBR list!

My youngest son bought me Angels Fall by Nora Roberts for mothers day.... I have only read one of her books in the past.... can't even remember which one it was other than it was one of her romance (which I don't care for romance books).... this one is supposed to be a mystery type... anyone read it???

I really liked that one Kat...its a romance/mystery/suspense type book. Let me know what you think of it :)

I used to gobble up an author when I found one I liked..like James Patterson, Harlen Coben, Janet Evanovich and Jeffery Deaver but now it seems like I don't do it as much. I do like Greg Iles and Joanne Harris right now but I'm scared if I keep reading them I won't stay interested.
I haven't read much Nora Roberts but I have the key books by her.

I enjoy Nora Robert's mystery/suspense books. Angels Falls was good. Once I got into it I was hooked. I have a few other of hers but some I just can't get into.

I like James Patterson's Women Murder Club books. Does anyone else read them? I started the Alex Cross books but never got into the series that much. When I want humor I gobble up Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I don't like her other books though.

Lizzi, I generally like the Women's Murder Club books, but I've only read 1-4. I could not stand #4, so I haven't ventured any further. I didn't like the dialog, I didn't like the fact that the detective lady was pretty much on her own, and I had the criminal element pegged litterally the second they walked on the page. Ugh! Someday I'll pick them up again, hopefully I won't be disappointed.

Did you ever watch the tv series? I think it was canceled after the first year. It was pretty good. In general, I love mysteries, and don't necessary read them for a literary fix, if that makes sense. I don't remember the dialog much, but I do find that it can be a little stilted in mysteries. Anyway, this series is my little escape. I have Seventh Heaven now, but haven't started it yet.

Has anyone read Alice Hoffman? I'm currently reading Blackbird House A Novel, which the book flap describes as "a rare and gorgeous departure". I think the departure is that it is really a series of short stories all taking place in the same location, the Massachusetts Cape. I'm liking the prose, and hoping it is not a rare and gorgeous departure.

Silly me, I just realized that Play Dirty is by Sandra Brown, not Nora Roberts, which may be why I'm having a slow time getting into it.

I was a little confused Lizzi for a second there...I thought I had missed one of hers! LOL Which Nora Roberts books do you have a hard time getting into? I've never read her JD Robb books and there are some series ones that I have a hard time with past the first one.

I like the Women's Murder Club books but I haven't read past #5. I have #6 and #7 but I just haven't gotten to them yet...I like them.

I haven't read an Alice Hoffman book yet but I want to!

Holli, I confused myself too! I almost always can get into Nora's books, but I had a hard time with Brithright (I think...about the anthropologist/archaeologist) I haven't read any of her JD Robb books either. I pretty much only like her mystery/suspense ones.

I haven't actually read that book, but I skimmed it at the bookstore and wanted too. It's going on my "read soon" list.

I found some more information on Alice Hoffman. Apparently her books often have a magical realism style. There was a hint, but just a hint, of that in Blackbird House, which I finished last evening.

I really enjoy reading Jodi Picoult and Alice Hoffman. I'm at a point where I'm trying to branch out a read a variety because for a while I was only reading Jodi. I usually like about everything I read but it seems to take a lot for me to be really really impressed.

I like Jodi Picoult's books too, I love her style.

Birthright was an ok one for me Lizzi. Have you read Midnight Bayou or The Villa?

I loved Midnight Bayou, but haven't read The Villa. I'll have to check it out.

I read Practical Magic by Hoffman, which I guess was also made into a movie. I really liked Practical Magic, I liked her style. I would read more by her, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

I have "The Third Angel" in my TBR pile but I can't seem to get to it. Must stop going to the library--you don't get to choose what you want to read then, you have to read what's due next.

I used to consume authors but there are so many great books out there and I find I enjoy authors more if I don't read their books back to back. Stephanie Plum books are just way more amusing if I intersperse them between other books.

The JD Robb books are pretty good. They take place in the future. I didn't think I'd like that, but I've gotten used to it. There are over 20 books now. Another series I got sucked into!

My mom likes them Renee and she says I should try them, maybe I should now since you both recommend them!

I adore both Poicult and Hoffman. They are both must buy authors for me. Practicle Magic is one of my all time favorites. I do admit Nicole Kidmans awful portrayal of one of the chars started a no go to her movies for a bit but Nicole has won me back

My favorite author of the moment has to be Kristin Hannah. I fell in love with her writing after reading Firefly Lane (my new favorite book) and then recently read True Colors and loved her even more.

Every girl should read Firefly Lane!!

True Colors was very good. It spans 30 years like Firefly Lane. It was hard for me to part with the characters when the book was over.

I have another one of her books "Between Sisters" that I want to read too. I haven't read Magic Hour yet either. I definitely want to read more of hers.

Favorite author is Jen Lancaster! I got to meet her last night and I am still reeling!!!!!

Hiya Elizabeth! The only Erdrich book I have read is, The Last Report on the Miracles at Little No Horse. It was an interesting read and I really enjoyed it. I haven't read anything else by Erdrich. Which book of hers have you read or are reading?
