I believe he was a bit mad.

Mad, I bet he was livid: your Dad's been murdered, your mums in bed with your uncle and your girl friend rejects you and all this in the first few pages. But of course we are talking about Hamlets Mental not emotional state which as yet I have not decided but if Hamlet is Mad he is in good company here. Three witnesses plus Hamlet who swear they can see the dead King, a murderous new King who thinks nothing of bedding his victims wife to say nothing of the wife herself??? and of course what of Polonius and his Tribe etc. Being as yet only half way through this excellent but difficult play I will hold off on any psychological diagnosis of Hamlet but to date my guess would be he is far from insane more like inbred which lends itself to all manner of biological/behavioural problems.
