As the year 2014 is coming soon (wow time really flies fast...) it seems proper to start this thread as well.

Here you may post any rumor or official announcement about movies being adapted from books, that are supposedly coming out next year, that is, in 2014.

Let me join you - I was aware only of The Lost City of Z, because I've read Fawcett's diaries. He's my childhood hero, real-life Indiana Jones who really went where many wouldn't. And he's now going to be presented by Benedict Cumberbatch :)

The Lost City of Z sounds like something I should read...and there's also the inevitable sequels of things like Hunger Games and The Hobbit 'trilogy' to add to these.

Lol forgot to mention them :)

P.S. I would recommend you to read Exploration Fawcett first :)

Silvia I just finished GONE GIRL and I am super excited for the movie to come out in 2015. The cast of the movie is already out there and it seems like it's gonna be a pretty good one. That hook is twisted and I think it will make a great movie. Movie I would definitely watch!

message 8: by Dahlia (new)

Dahlia I can't wait for the Maze Runner. I loved the book.

´Ü´Ç±ô³Ùá²Ô I have actually read All You Need Is Kill, because I've seen the trailer for Edge of Tomorrow. And boy I'm glad I did :) If anyone's into sci-fi, I can highly recommend the book.

I want to see that also. I read "Rescuing da Vinci: Hitler and the Nazi's Stole Europe's Great Art, America and Her Alies Recovered It" by Edsel.

I have pretty high expectations for that film. Although, I had them for Oblivion too, and boy how disappointed I was. I hope this one won't though!

LOL it took me some time to decipher on which books do you refer :) I agree with Maleficent, I am not sure what to think of it either. I wish to see Saving Mr. Banks too. I've seen one interview with Tom Hanks, where he reveals that all the photos of Disney were photoshoped, because he couldn't ever be seen without a cigarette in his hand. I didn't have a clue!

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments I've heard Saving Mr. Banks is really good.

After reading the book, the trailer is less than promising :(

based on:

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green The Fault in Our Stars by John Green (coming in June)
Vampire Academy Official Movie Tie-In Edition by Richelle Mead Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (February)
Winter's Tale (Movie Tie-In Edition) by Mark Helprin Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin (February)
Heaven is for Real A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo (April)
Good People by Marcus Sakey Good People by Marcus Sakey

No poster yet for the following ones (and for some no final confirmation of their being actually done):
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby A Long Way Down Hector and the Search for Happiness by François Lelord Hector and the Search for Happiness Testament of Youth by Vera Brittain Testament of Youth The Giver (The Giver Quartet, #1) by Lois Lowry The Giver Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín Brooklyn London Fields by Martin Amis London Fields The Creed of Violence by Boston Teran The Creed of Violence Inherent Vice by Thomas Pynchon Inherent Vice This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper This is Where I Leave You Trash by Andy Mulligan Trash Cold in July by Joe R. Lansdale Cold in July Every Secret Thing by Laura Lippman Every Secret Thing The Clockwork Girl by Sean O'Reilly The Clockwork Girl

To save some space, I jumbled them all together. Sorry if that appears a tad incomprehensible... Now, do you see among them some you would like to see too?

Ha, from the trailer I concluded only that it looks cool. If you ask me about what it is, I have no idea, some loops forward and backward in time with a lot of action in between :) In any case then I guess it would be as usual safer to see the movie first then to read the book! Of course, for those who haven't read the book already :(

I haven't read the book, but still, that wouldn't make sense :o I get it when filmmakers choose not to depict every detail of the book, but to change the whole ending, now isn't that drastic?

message 27: by Alana (new)

Alana (alanasbooks) | 730 comments I'd heard a bit about changing the ending of Gone Girl as well. Can't discuss without giving away the entire book, but yes, that's a bit drastic, although I have some ideas of how it MIGHT be changed. It was my impression that the author herself was involved in some of the changes, tho? Or is that just something I thought I heard?

message 28: by Robin (new)

Robin | 1 comments im looking forward to divergent (and finally getting a couple people to read the books!) and wondering what they are planning to do with the ending for gone girl since ive heard they are changing it completely. that should be interesting. the next book im going to read is maze runner - right now im reading the prequel - so i will probably look forward to that, too, when i am done since ive heard good things about this book, too.

Interesting, now looking at this thread I see, The Lost City of Z was announced to be released in 2014, or at least I thought so (now don't ask me why, I have no idea). According to twitter posts and (I presume) the shooting will commence this summer 2015. Ah well. Just no more delays please!
