Bon (bonne) So, disclaimer: I did watch the short-lived Sci Fi (pre-SyFy, thank you very much) series based on this book and therefore do know a bit about the general premise. There was a skull. There was detecting. There was wizardry. There were explosions. That is all I remember.

Looking strictly at the cover, though, I would say that this is not the kind of book I would be interested in if I just saw it sitting there.

It seems dark (noir, perrrhaps?). I do, indeed, like that it's telling me that it's a bestseller and "an unusually well-crafted first novel." That must be a good sign!

I see these rune-y type things on a monolith type thing on the right side of the background and I'm wondering if they're on a building. A cursed building??? Except that now I see rune-y type things on the man's staff. Maybe it's his cursed building. That doesn't bode well for him.

With my wild speculation complete, I will begin reading this book! It may go slowly, because I don't have much free time, but I will persevere!!!

I love wild speculation! And I feel your lack of free time. I just started a job, and this month has been roooouuuugghhh.

And actually, your summary of the show series is rather brilliant. It carries over to the books rather well, though they are not the main things that draw me to the books. Still, I like it. Mind if I post it on the facebook group?

Bon (bonne) Surely! Is there a lot of discussion in the Facebook group? Because there is not, sadly, much here...
